Default variator - gtv / manual

Im advised that I need a new variator for my GTV 2.0ts

can this be fitted by myself or is it a dealer/specialist job?

is there a haynes style manual or a cd of instructions for service?

Thanks

SK

There's no Haynes manual, and I didn't find the official Alfa service CD
very helpful. Somewhere on the web is a document written by a private
individual that did the job, complete with lots of photos. I've just had a
quick look and can't find it, but Google should turn it up, or I may have
found it linked from one of the Alfa websites.

I found it fairly difficult as a DIY job, but possible. If you change all
the belts, tensioners etc, and buy the special tool for fixing the cams in
place it ends up costing about £400, parts from ebspares.

I haven't yet forgiven Alfa for failing to change all these faulty variators
for free - they supplied a faulty part, and should fix the problem of their
creation.
