Default oil change now no odometer

My '92 SL1 odometer quit working (189,000) immediately after a Jiffy
Lube oil change. As a matter of fact the new window sticker they put
on is exactly 3000 mi more that what my now defunct odometer shows,
which tells me something happened during the oil change. I took it back
once I noticed the problem, but naturally they didn't see anything
wrong. Anybody know what could have occured?

Is the speedometer working? I would think that the two were closely
related. Other than that, I'm clueless here. Hope I was able to help
some.

The speedometer is working fine. The trip counter isn't working either
for that matter.

most likely nothing that Jiffy Lube did, more of an inherent issue with some
'92 and '92 S-series. There is a tiny gear which drives both the trio
counter and odo that commonly breaks. Its a complicated and often expensive
repair.

If you do have the gear replaced, make sure you do it immediately and keep
track of any nileage in between. Make sure the repair is done by a qualified
shop and the mileage verified and signed off by the shop.

I had this happen to a 92 buick roadmaster. The speedometer worked and
the odometer and trip odometer did not. The fix was this,

Take the gauge cluster out of the dash
paint the terminals with PB Blaster rust buster
(which also cleans off any corrosion on the pins)
My setup was modular, each component plugged in.

Been working fine since i did this, my problem was a poor electrical
connection to the gauge cluster.
It is possible as well that a poor connection exists where the
odometers plug into the circuit board. One reason I suspected a poor
connection was before they went out completely, they would occasionally
run backwards!
