Default Help on troubleshooting ECM Code 96

Greetings!

Looking for some advice on troubleshooting a code 96 on a 1989 Mustang GT
5.0 5-speed.

Code 96 states that it is a fuel pump secondary circuit failure. the car
seemingly runs fine ,except it does not seem to have as much power as it
should. I just cleared up some EGR issues code 33 by
replacing egr sensoreand vacuum actuator. The engine was rebuilt 5,000
miles ago, the fuel pump was replaced last summer, and no other issues
exist that I am aware of.

Any help would be appreciated!

David

My book, which only goes to 88 unfortunately, shows that code as not listed.
It points to a manual test, called a pin point test, that requires you to
troubleshoot the wiring harness starting at the throttle position sensor.
Step 1 is to verify if you have good voltage to the sensor (VREF). You are
looking for between 4 & 6 volts across the connector. After that they want
you to look for damaged pins on the connector to the TPS and the sixty pin
connector on the ECU itself.
