It's not a warranty issue. Unless you were negligent, your insurance should cover everything. However, if you knew about the radiator damage and continued to drive anyway until the engine died, you'll have to pay for your own mistake. --- Lanny Chambers '94C, St. Louis http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html |

did not know of damage to radiator. i was travelling 8 miles in of a 10 mile journey engine warning light came on in a 40 mph zone so not goin too fast. continued further 2 miles to garage. noticed temp had gone up turned off engine and left car to cool down. when topping up coolant system it only took 1 litre of water to fill to sufficient level then noticed as it started to come out of rad through open grille at front of car.ins comp have said that a tiny hole in rad could not have caused that much damage. thoughts please |

Seems so. According to your other post, you continued driving with a warning light on. That makes the damage to the engine due to your negligence. However, the damage to the radiator occurred before the light, so you are not responsible for that, and your all-risk should pay for a new radiator. You could try to argue that Mazda should have provided a protective shield in front of the radiator, but even if successful, that again would only make Mazda responsible for the radiator.
