Default rF2: The quest for new ways to be miserable continues!

Graphics: it's like a modding team took rF1 to the edges of what it was capable of.
Good, if you were expecting a much improved rF1, but DX9 is capable of much better.
The programmers here... well, they've tried their best, but unfortunately sometimes
your best isn't really good enough. I had the same problem with GTR Evo... it just
looked out of date from the start.

Physics: FFB is not right in the way that iRacing is almost immediately "right".
Which is a shame, because although I'm struggling with the Historic cars, the
Megane shows an awful lot of potential under the hood.

Or rather, under the wheel arches. I really do think this tyre model is better than
iRacing's at the moment. The car handles more believably under stress and duress --
to me -- and would be a joy to drive if the FFB felt more convincing.

Some people on the forums love the FFB though, however it's hard to know what
they're comparing it to, or whether specific hardware is a big deal.

Atmosphe perhaps the biggest hit so far. Dynamically changing weather and
lighting really move the genre forward, and I've even enjoyed thrashing around in
the (graphically poor) rain in the Megane. Again the tyre physics handle very
impressively and when I aquaplaned at one stage it just felt and looked right.

Sounds from the surroundings are well done too, they really do add something I
didn't think I'd been missing.

Anyway, that's it so far. I'm disappointed and I'm very pleased at the same time.
As ever, it's hard to be simply happy in this hobby. In fact I suspect we have this
hobby purely because we don't want to be happy. ;-)

Still, it was easily worth my 30ukp, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing
what the more talented modders can do with this engine. It has bags of potential...
though at this stage you'd hope for a bit more than that. There's probably nothing
beta about this release apart from a few tweaks and a lot of content.
