I cant recall from my head where things are routed. As I said, avoid
wires wrapped in yellow tape. Yes you should be able to work on this
without issue.

The SIR system is set up to deploy when enough force is put on a human
body to send it towards the steering wheel or pillar. I doubt a 700lbs
motorcycle fender bender would have launched your wife into the steering
wheel... This aint 1979, the SIR system worked as it should. When the
car itself, not "body panels", start to crumple thats when the air bag
will most likely deploy. Theres a ton of science behind it.
