Update...

Apparently, the key does not have a chip. It's a simple metal key.

No plastic key or spare key in the glove box,etc.

So... It boils down to whether there is a way to ID the key code...

Any easy way to figure out the chip dilemma if I don't have the original
key? Is it simply a matter of IDing the code and proving I own the car?
....Or can a key be made?

I have the VIN but no...
