You raise a very good point. It is great sales tool for Detroit and has
helped put them in the pickle they are in today. It adds cost and weight
to a SUV and also reduces MPG 5 to 10% too. Detriot...

1997 GMC Suburban Noisy Transfer Case
There is going to be some noise in 4wd at speed but I cannot say if
yours is excessive without hearing it. The "clunk" was because
synchronize in Tcase is likely getting worn and not smoothly...
