Interior question - 2000 328Ci
 

I have a 2000 328Ci. There's a strip of interior trim that appears to run
along the top edge of each door frame, down the pillar, and possibly all
the way around the door frame. For some reason or other, whatever was
holding this in place (adhesive, etc..) failed along the top edge of the
passenger side door frame. Now the trim is just hanging.

Anyone else have this problem? Can this be easily re-attached? Is there
some special adhesive I can purchase?

I'm trying to avoid having the trim replaced because the part alone has
been quoted in the neighborhood of $250 USD, which I think is ridiculous.

Any advice/info would be appreciated.

This is an oft-commented upon event over on the E46fanatics.com site.
Common wisdom there seems to be the use of a 3-M product. Appears to be a
heat related failure of the OEM adhesive. You might check out the site for
the exact product name and procedure.

This is my first BMW and while I admit it's great to drive, it's stupid
**** like this that makes me think twice about buying a BMW again. I've
had more problems like this in the 5 years I've owned my 328 than I had
in the 11 years I owned my '89 Acura Integra, which I drove into the
ground.

Anyway, I found the info on the adhesive.
