has anyone used heavier grade oil to quieten a noisey manual gearbox ...if
so what sort and how succesful....cheers Shane

You wiener, this is misleading information.
1. There are no oil filters on manual transmissions
2. Packing the gearbox with Rolled Oats works better

You wiener, this is misleading information.
1. There are no oil filters on manual transmissions
2. Packing the gearbox with Rolled Oats works better

This used to be an old trick to quiet one down just long
enough to sell it. e.g. on a car that normally used
20 to 40 weight oil, stuff in some 90 to 120 weight
lube and unload it on a hot day, since it is gonna
be really hard to shift when cold.

Depending on the vehicle, you might be able to keep it
alive a bit longer with a synthetic oil of heavier weight,
e.g. Redline.

Learn to read - I said FILLER not FILTER!

No, cereal based products break down and ferment to easily, sawdust is more
stable. . . . . . . ;-)
