I have a bulb gone in the Temp gauge of my 156 and can't find an easy way of
replacing it, any ideas?

I think that requires a 'disassembly' of the centre console. Sure I
saw a detailed description on the web a while
back...Google....yes..here it is (for a pre-facelift car):

http://www.alfa156.net/tech/bulbs/fr...solebulbs.html

Read it and weep. I like the last pic. But what were the 'designers'
thinking?? Lack of access for maintenance (leading to high repair
costs) was a disadvantage of the 156.

That's for the temp control lamp but I suspect you need to go though
much of the same to get near the dials.

Ease of construction leading to cheap(er) purchase price....

Just out of curiousity (spelling ?) I had a look at the link.... when it got
to step 5 "remove stereo" I lost the will to live !! Seriously though, I
then read through the rest of the instructions .... I reckon that by the
end, the temp gauge light might work, but nothing else !! For what it's
worth, I would live with the dead bulb (just like I've lived with the
dreaded "dashboard rattle" for 12 years).

Dave S..... :>)) 156 2.0 SP2 '98, still on a diet for the Giulietta
(don't ask).

Wishful thinking there, I suspect. Hard to build but use cheaper parts
(except for the exhaust) to compensate might be closer to folks
experience.

Re exhaust - agreed - my 156, registered August 1998, is still on the
original exhaust ..... another Alfa "quirk" !

Dave S... :>)) (having said that, I bet the exhaust goes tomorrow !).

Who (apart from a main dealer) is going to stock exhausts for a car
that only needs one every 13+ years?
