Troll infestation

Did somebody in r.a.m.m.m commit some crime for which the recent troll
infestation is the punishment? FWIW, here's a scorefile entry for slrn
that gets rid of them:

[rec.autos.makers.mazda.miata]
Sco =-9999
Newsgroups: alt.autos.*
Newsgroups: rec.autos.driving

That will filter out all postings to r.a.m.m.m that are also cross
posted to both rec.autos.driving and an alt.autos groups

I simply use a filter that kills any article with a comma in the
"newsgroups" header. Cross-posted articles are ALWAYS trollage or spam.

23 articles were killed this morning. (I also kill anything from that
moron Tony Lance.)

That should work in Xnews as well but I have set mine to block any
crossposted message so I don't see these unless someone is foolish
enough to reply to the trolls.

newsgroups have become somewhat orphaned by most internet service
providers who used to aggressively monitor them for spam. google has
become a big portal to newsgroups and since anyone can create a free
google account and post to groups you can guess what has been
happening... spammers open google accounts and post spam to newsgroups
via google. if you look at the header information on all the recent
spam it is all courtesy of google accounts. you could forward the
message along with the header information to and
it should be removed. or what many people do is simply filter all
messages from google. google does some good things, but newsgroups isn't
one of them.

That's odd. I've been filtering out postings from google groups for a
long time. Something must have broken, because I never saw any of
that stuff in r.a.m.m.m until a few days ago.
