1999 honda accord transmission oil leak

I'v got a 99 honda accord and I found that the transmission fluid is
leaking on the parking lot and the transmission fluid level is
dropping. I first realized it after the check engine light came with
OBD error code 0740.
Took the car to Aamco transmission, told me that I need to replace the
trany gasket to fix this problem. estimated cost is about $800 becuase
they are going to replace the gasket while rebuilding the trany.
took it to honda dealer, news is even worse. they advised to replace
the trany with a used one, just becuase its leaking transmission oil.
est cost is $2400.
Any idea for the possible solution?

Honda has extended the automatic transmission warranty to eight years on
account of serious problems with certain of its auto trannies.

Be nice when you go, but point out to your dealer that you area aware of
the problems with '99 transmissions and you expect them to replace it under
the extended warranty. You do not state your mileage, but even in out-of-
warranty mileage, Honda will honor the warranty if you approach the dealer
nicely.

What? HONDA has a problem? A JAPANESE car? I'm shocked...shocked, I tell
you. I thought only POS American cars had problems like this. Has anyone
told Consumer Reports about this?
