Clutch installation
 

I'm going to call around tomorrow to see how much putting in a new clutch
will cost me... but I thought I'd post here first to see what some others
have paid & what the average cost for INSTALLING is (not for parts +
install, but just install). Thanks guys/gals.

Ive had it done at two different shops and each one charged me about $250 for
the labor.

Wow.. cheap! Question, for a T-45 tranny, do they need to drop the

Yes, they do have to remove the transmission to remove the bell housing and
change the clutch.

BTW, lots of shops will not offer you the same warranty on parts and labor
when they do not supply the parts!
You may want to compare the prices and warranties with that in mind...

Well, around here... nobody backs up their warranty.. and when they do, it's
for about 30 days.

Well, I got quoted $550 with tax. This includes "all new" throw-out bearing,
pilot bearing, pressure plate.. resurface flywheel, what not. Not really
much competition around here to get prices down, but this place is a real
high-quality independent shop. Heard nothing but great stuff about 'em...
they are *always* cram packed though. My uncle is pretty good friends w/ the
owner so he's squeezing me in this week.

That's sounds like a good price to me. In Los Angeles I was recently quoted
$644.00 parts and labor for a 96GT from a good shop.

It included:

clutch disk
pressure plate
T.O bearing
pilot bearing
rear main seal
resurface flywheel
labor

I was just going to say to also have the throwout bearing and pilot
bearing replaced, even if it's not needed. While it's open might as
well.

Why not take a weekend and learn to do it yourself? You'll save a butt-load
of money you could spend on a better clutch, some beer, and some munchies.
