iRacing and Piratebay
 

I was doing some <cough> constructive researching </cough> and found myself
on the piratebay legal section.

Pretty funny thing at the bottom of the page, there's a F1RST/iRacing letter
from them to Piratebay. And a very funny reply ;) Man that F1RST lawyer
must be doing overtime this past year, the guy must be thinking "damn those
ex-papy guys are making me RICH!"

What's really funny, is that the guy running the piratebay still thinks
that what he's doing is legal.

(Of course this article is also funny because of the way it reaches as
far as possible to somehow make it an open source issue)

I am not going to comment on Piratebay, while it may be funny, it is
obviously not legal. But what I wanted to comment on was this recent
article from Wired.

Thanks to Take Two Interactive for leaving a sex game in the code of
GTA:SA it seems we here in America are going to see the "Janet Jackson"
effect applied to the modding of video games. Obviously this is not
something that will help the current NR2K3 modding situation ever see a
positive result.
So we are going to be stuck... so now it's time to do some math. Our
computers are big ticket items in most cases.... let's say our setups
are in the $1000-2000 range...(with all of our stuff, wheels, speakers,
software... chairs, chips, frosty cold ones, you know with stuff)... We
could be really racing for that money. Carts, enduro stockers, maybe
even a hobby stock... and we can mod that to our hearts content...

I was never one to say I am not going to buy something as an act of
civil disobedience, but I think I am going to start, since I think the
law is wrong, and the game companies are wrong as well.

the sex content in GTA was already there, embedded, deactivated.. The
hot coffee app simply unlocked it.. the files are only 3MB in size
total. No hardly big enough to be anything other than scripts...


Rockstar F upped, perhaps on purpose , free publicity and all that...
