Whether that's true or not earlier today I had some incredibly intense racing in
Shift2. The handling is never quite "right" but it's good enough that when you're
thrashing round a track with very competitive AI, their lights flashing in your
cockpit & mirrors, it's very hard to stay cool, calm and collected!

As with Shift1, I often find myself frustrated, and I sometimes find myself
inspired. Perhaps they did, indeed, produce a great simulation of the racing
experience (rather than a pure "car meets tarmac" experience).

Sorry. Didn't mean to disturb the peace and quiet.

I should warn you in advance though, my "free" 3 month iRacing code runs out on
Sunday. I may have to toss a coin to decide whether to use it, as I'm fairly
ambivalent (quelle surprise!) about rejoining.

It's hard to resist free though, so you might want to unsubscribe from here for a
week or two. By then I will hopefully have got my "Why did I do this? When will I
ever learn?" rants out of the way.

Then again, ranting over trivia like sim racing may just be part of my DNA, a bit
like asthma, hair loss, and the ability to eat many Cadbury's Creme Eggs without
throwing up.

Now, where did I put that diabetes testkit?

I have never possessed a pair of trousers with more than one zip, have never
inserted a safety pin where nature (and tailors) didn't intend it, and I definitely
don't have enough hair for a Mohican.

I do, however, have a Stranglers album, and Rotten's God Save the Queen is etched
on my republican (small r) soul. But I'm not sure that qualifies me for punkiness.

Yours etc etc,

The Queen is a tourist attraction; our equivalent of the Grand Canyon and Eiffel
Tower all rolled into one. That's why the recent wedding was bigger news elsewhere
than here... we were just happy to have an extra free Bank Holiday and an excuse to
have a "communal experience" for a change.

You don't get many of those these days, sadly, so I guess there was an element of
grasping at straws in the whole standing around on The Mall waving flags and
dressing like ****s thing. I've no idea where some of those people come from. It's
like they crawl out from under a rock or something.

The Monarchy won't survive long one Charles gets the job of balancing fancy
jewellery on his head and smiling at folk he couldn't give a toss about. I bet he's
**** at rFactor too.

Do you see what I did there? Anyone would think this was a sim racing newsgroup.

PS I had a satsuma earlier. Does that make me fruity?
