Hi,

Please help. The apprentice at work is having major probs with his
new Audi. First off. Where is the battery located?
He cant find it. The major problem is the car just dies
unexpectedly. Has a new fuel pump and half of the ignition system.
Actually right now it is broken down at a local supermarket. Spark is
there but appears very weak. That was as far as we got before the
rain came down.

Any help would be appreciated. Oh we would love a wiring diagram..

Thanks

Some of the older Audis had the battery under the back seat. He might
be wise to invest in a Bentley manual.

Check the fuel pump relay. It should be in the relay box under the hood
just in front of the windshield.

Audi likes to put them right in front of the windshield, under the big plastic
cover. There should be a flip-up or sliding panel hiding it.

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think you are right.
Checked under the plastic in the engine bay but just fans and stuff.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes had a look at the relays
but didnt locate the fuel pump one. Will try again. I have just
repaired my old Honda Accord by resoldering my "fuel pump relay". It
had a dry joint or two in there.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. Checked under here but just
found fans and stuff. Thanks though. But will try the rear seat
option.

Pedro knastet i vei:

First, its a A6 '95 - 5 cyl with engine code AAR - right ?

---

The fuel pump - is inside the gas tank. Under the lock ring
on top of the tank, where the in- and outgoing fuel pipes
are attached. Also, where the electric wires for the fuel
pump is located. ( proper contact ? )

Check if the pump is running by turning the ignition ON, you
should hear it buzz. If its not running, then check the
relay - IF you know how, use a small jumper cable to bypass
the relay. At the same time, check for cable burst - on the
wires where the fuel pump is attached.

---

Battery - usually under the rear back seat. Maybe hidden
under a plastic cover

Frank,
Thanks, we didnt find the fuel pump relay but it must be there. Will
look again. He has just paid for a new fuel pump. But hasnt fixed
the fault. But I think the fuel pump was dodgy anyhow. The latest
news is we have found an audi specialist and is looking at it tonight
and we shall see what happens. Thanks for your info.
Will let you know.
Cheers

I used to have an old Audi 100 5-cyl 2.3
The battery on that was under the rear seat.

May be worth a look?
