84 / heater core / HELP!
 

Could someone please tell me some instructions
on removing the heater core on an 84
or a route to take in finding out?
My mechanic says his info tells him the dash does NOT have
to be removed but he is scratching his head on the access
point and procedure to use in such a confined space.

I am new to this model Vette and it looks like my mechanic
is too :-)
Please save the negative remarks.
My mechanic is a pretty good Mr. Goodwrench but his
specialty was not Vettes. It was Cads.

the heater core in my '86 was replaced before i got it ,but the previous
owner stated he had to take apart the whole dashboard.

Yeah, I"m not sure I'd let him work on it.

No, the whole right side dash has to be removed. You start with the
dash panel and work your way down. No special tools needed, just time
to put it all back together. Well worth the price of admission if you
do it yourself because the core itself is so cheap.

No, the whole right side dash has to be removed. You start with the
dash panel and work your way down. No special tools needed, just time
to put it all back together. Well worth the price of admission if you
do it yourself because the core itself is so cheap.

Thats what my mechanic is thinking.
however the repair software that he has (figures man-hours,
I guess?) says the dash does not have to be removed but it
doesn't tell him any procedure to follow.
This is my/our dilemma...

Take the underside of the passenger side dash off and work from the
outside to get the hoses loose and then remove the heater core frim
under the dash. You have to open the case and there are multiple screws
