Woodchuck were are you? by
Peter Parker
Clutch not slipping but not disengaging well. Clutch peddle feels light.
I think either my release arm is cracked, actuation finger worn or stripped
the arm. Maybe the TO bearing but that doesn't make noise. The push rod
could be worn or something. Anyway the symtoms. 215K miles on the clock
and...

2000 Eurovan camper beeps by
[email protected]
Hi there. I bought a 2000 Eurovan camper a few months ago and have a
question for you guys/girls. When I bought the van and first drove it
I noticed 3 loud beeps when I exceeded 10 mph. I ask the dealer that
sold it to me and he told me they forgot to reset the oil/inspection
counter when they...

Diesel fuel prices by
Paul L. Hidey
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but could someone in the
know, explain why deisel fuel is so insanely high? And why the
professional truck driver's and the railroads, aren't screaming their
brains out? It's driving the price of everything we use out of reach!
Thank you ,
PH

Hi and HELP! 96 Jetta will not start! by
K's Arcade
Hello VW people. I have been a member of Rec.Games.Pinball for several
years and it's members have helped me many times. I have also been a VW
owner for many years from the early air-cooled Beetle/Rabbit years and
had always been able to get myself out of jams... until now.
We have a 96 2.0 Jetta...

New Jettas at VW - $$$$ - How Much? by
Numan
I went in last Friday for my (unscheduled) 15,000
mile oil change in my 2003 Jetta GLS TDI. $75
for an oil change and a replaced break light.
While I was waiting I went out and looked at
the new Jettas. I have to admit I don't like the
shape of the newer models because they don't
look European...

Dancing yuppie morons in Jetta ad by
Not a Yuppie
The most irritating TV spot I've seen in years is the recent Jetta ad
showing a flaky-looking young couple dancing and jumping around on the
floor, annoying their downstairs neighbor. They keep smiling like
dopes and don't care when he complains. There's something about the
look of these people...

Car Running HOT, NOW WHAT? by
HotRod
I purchased a 94 VW Golf Diesel a few months ago and it has been running
great, except for the fact that it has been running hot. When I first got
the car the temp gauge did not work so I replaced all of the temp sensors in
the RAD and water jackets, three in all. This got the RAD fan and temp...

How can we get the Polo over here ?? by
Willie78
Seriously, I'm sick of our VW's trying to be Toyotas and
Cadillacs. There is a reason why VW made their most reliable and fun
cars almost 20 years ago. VW seems to occupy the spot where Audi used
to be, and Audi is now, well.............why bother. To me (opinion
only) VW hasn't made a car...

Help! 83 rabbit leaking gas by
Chris[_18_]
Hi- I am hoping to find someone willing to give a little advice. I
have recently purchased a 83 vw rabbit GL (fuel injected-gas). I was
told when I purchased the car that it would occasionally leak gas
through the cap due to the fact that it was the wrong gas cap for my
model. Now that I have...

Loss of coolant - follow up.. MkIII by
Signal
Had a loss of coolant a while back after lending my car out. The level
remained constant since, but dipped again slightly last week, and the
cat is sniffing the front so I figure I should investigate.
What I've noticed -
Car runs OK far as I can tell, no loss of power etc.
No obvious **** or...

water puddle under car by
[email protected]
Hello -- I bought an '04 Passat wagon about a week ago. The past
couple of mornings I've noticed a small puddle of water (it appears
clear and has no smell so I'm guessing it's just water) under the front
drivers side. It's been too dark and I've been in too much of a hurry
to try and figure out...

VW Passat 1.8T - 150K realistic? - 10 to 15 yr lifespan? by
Brandon
I have owned my 99 VW Passat 1.8 T for about 2 years now. Bought it
used (at 50K) under the VW Certified Preowned program.
I now have about 88K and am thinking about selling it to a relative,
just because I am interested in getting something new.
It's actually been a good car -- just a very...

Why do people have soft spots for VW's? by
Tom Levigne
I have noticed this for over 25 years that some people have a soft spot for
Volkswagens.
Why is this? Because the Germans are smart and worked so hard after the war
to get back on their feet or the cars are unique and functional (they
certainly aren't the most reliable which are Japanese or the...

90 golf won't start, help by
E
I'm having problems with my 90 golf. It started bogging down one day,
it was cold so I thought it might be water in the gas, so I added a
bottle of antifreeze. It ran fine then. 3 days later the car died
completely while driving on the highway. I played with wires and
vacume lines for about an...

Air block in coolant? by
Joseph Meehan
I have a 2002 NB TDI. I suspect I may have a air in the system. Maybe
maybe not.
I am having an intermittent problem with the CEL activating indicating a
problem with the coolant temp sensor. The sensor appears to check out OK
with the right resistance at several temperatures and I have cleaned...

TDI Mileage by

Hello,
I have a 04' Jetta GLS TDI, I bought it a couple weeks ago with 40,000 miles
on it. I drive a little over 100 miles a day, I would say 70% of my driving
is hwy. I try to keep the speed under 70, don't take off fast, In other
words just normal driving, My question is that I'm getting about 38...

Clogging sunroof drain lines by
Get Involved
My VW dealer just charged me 115.00 dollars to clean out the sun roof drain
lines on my 02 gti. Front and rear passenger foot wells were flooded after a
heavy rain. They told me it was a maintenance item. I can not find the
maintenance procedure listed anywhere in the VW provided manuals. If I...

Oil change - did I get screwed? by
Mike Smith
Hey all,
You may recall my belly pan sob story. Well, I got it fixed today, and
while I was there I had them do the 10K service, which of course
includes an oil and filter change. Now, the manual sez that an '03
Passat V6 (actually both engines) should be fed 5W-40 oil, meeting VW
505.01. The...
