Where are you and your Miata? by
Chris D'Agnolo
Well, Pat (PWS) has mentioned a couple of times that only a small handful of
folks hang out on this group these days. While I'm not usually inclined to
try to prove him wrong, on this particular issue, I would love to. Would
everyone who see's this message, please reply with CITY, STATE (and...

Downshifting by
CR
Downshifting: yes or no?
Double-clutching: necessary or not?
Comments and suggestions welcome...
Since there are fewer 5/6-speed manual transmission autos sold in the
U.S. these days, perhaps it is a lost skill?

Just for Fun by
Chris D'Agnolo[_2_]
Just to stir the pot a little, I'd love to hear how many Miatas folks have
owned and approximately how many miles they have put on those Miatas.
To start it off I can say that I've owned 2.
- 1992 SE Black and Tan (put ~75k on it over ~5 yrs) and currently
- 1999 Base model Black / Black / Black...

What am I missing? by
Randy Maheux
In 5 weeks I will be moving from San Diego to the Daytona Beach area. My
problem is getting my Miata back east. I could drive it in 4 - 12 hour days
or pay Mayflower to haul it with my furniture. Nine years ago I was a
zombie after driving a Ford Ranger from Tampa to San Diego in 4 days. ...

PBS reviews Pontiac Solstice by
XS11E
I just watched "Motorweek" on PBS as they reviewed the Pontiac Solstice.
They continually compared it to the MX-5 and.... well, here, read it
yourselves:

Anyone having any problems with PRHT model? by
Herm
I thank everyone who posted on my previous question - Z-4 or MX-5
PRHT...which should I get?
I'm 95% sure it's going to be the MX-5. Now I'm wondering - has anyone had
any problems with the top? or anything else?
I have monitored this group for quite some time and have seen very few
problems...

Newbie by
TRCSr
Hello All,
I just purchased a 2009 Miata MX-5 with retractable hardtop. This is
the first roadster I have had since the 70's when I had an Austin
Healy 3000. I have been a member of the Chev Tracker group for many
years, but as soon as I sell that little gem I will be dropping out of
the group. I...

Remote start for standard transmission? by
Grant Edwards
Now that I'm heading into my first Minnesota winter in a long
time without heated parking, I've been getting a bit jealous of
people with remote starters. I know I should just tough it
out, but that aluminum shift knob gets pretty cold and I hate
wearing gloves while driving.
All of the remote...

I am SERIOUSLY considering purchasing a new 2006 Grand Touring MX-5. Would
be interested in hearing feedback about the car, int/ext colors and options.
THANK YOU!

Can you id this part? by
pws
I am 99% certain that this came off of a miata, probably from under the
dash. Before I go digging for part numbers, does anyone recognize what
it is?

Top down! by
XS11E[_1_]
82F today, no sign of rain in sight, DAMN I was tired of driving with
the top up.....
I can't believe how much more I enjoy driving with the top down..
here's hoping it'll stay that way for a month or so now.

Gotcha, you damn drunk driver by
pws[_1_]
I was being tailgated last night, nothing unusual, but I was able to
pull into the right lane to let them pass. The next thing I know, they
are almost past me, then the turn signal comes on and they immediately
pull right over into my lane. Only serious braking on my part and luck
prevented an...

Roll Bars??? by
Jazz_Azz
How many of you have had roll bars installed???
I always have thought it strange that they weren't/aren't required.
mine is a 2000 Miata MX-5.
I have always told my Wife that if we get into a roll over wreck, try
to get your head down as low as possible :-).

yes, it's a mileage thread by
pws[_1_]
I was wondering what people are seeing as far as real-world MPG for the
NC Miata (2006-2010), with a 5-speed.
I am just curious about what is the best it is capable of on the highway
with the top up as well as top down, and what it gets when driven with a
heavy foot around town.
Thanks,
Pat

Who's here? by
Chris D'Agnolo
Well, it's been entirely too quiet around here lately. The only really
interesting posts I've seen lately on this thread were political (off topic)
and as much as I love this groups ability to stay on topic (unlike most
newsgroups), it was at least nice to see human communication taking place....

Aftermarket intake questions by
Dana Rohleder
I am very happy with the performance of my Miata, but I am wondering if I
can improve my current performance AND fuel economy with an aftermarket
intake. Here is the rub - I currently get an AVERAGE of 30 MPG in daily
driving, which is, from what I understand, better than average economy for
my...
