Outside temperature sensor busted by an alignment??? by [email protected]
Hi, Yesterday I noticed that the outside temperature readout on my 2001 530i was off (higher) by about 25-30 deg Farenheit. I was pretty sure that it'd worked fine very, very recently and, after pondering it for a bit, realized that I'd just taken the car in the day before to get an alignment...

'99 E39 -- Is this a lemon? by Monsieur Big Stuff
I've got a '99 528it wagon. Bought it used nearly 2 years ago, with the BMW certified warranty, which expires at the end of 2005. It now has 55K miles on the clock. Here's my quandary. Since owning the car, I've had to bring it in to the local dealer at least five times. (This contrasts with...

Need help finding alignment jigs for cam alignment on a 740iL by
I am replacing a head on my '96 740iL, 4.4L and see that a series of alignment tools that bolt thru a sparkplug hole in the back of each head is required to hold the camshaft in an exact position while the sprockets on each cam shaft are tightened (they have slotted holes). I called BMW and they...

E46 M3 convertible top by Sean Lee
Does anyone have problem with squeaking noise because of the convertible top of M3? Almost to a point its annoying because of the noise it makes whenever car hits a little bump. My car is 2004 with 11K miles. Dealer says there is no cure for it but as usual I do not believe that.

iDrive? by tim
Who has iDrive in their BMW? I have been looking at the very recent articles on the new 3 Series in various British motoring magazines, and they almost all look negatively on it. Why is this, is it just because it is 'fiddly' to use, or what? All thoughts appreciated. tim

My local one is letting me source my own diff (for 150 UKP) and want approx 225+vat for labour. The chaps I'm buying from (Quarry Motors) say they...

Add OBC? by Nick
Hi, How easy is it to add an OBC to an E36? Is there a wiring harness to plug in somewhere, or is a lot more involved than that? Getting the parts isnt a problem, just any advice on how to do it would be appreciated, I'm not worried about the temp sensor either, Thanks, Nick

New BMW Model by Jeff Strickland
I followed a new model BMW home last night. I couldn't tell what model it was. It was a two door, but it wasn't a 3 Series, it was closer to a 5 by its size, but I have seen the new 5 Series and this car did not look like them. The new brakes lights looked pretty nice as compared to the brake...

I few days ago I drove my car, BMW 5 series '97 525TDS, without any trouble but today when I wanted to start it was impossible. The engine runs fine (new battery) but it doesn't start. Once the car was left I've seen that there was a bit of white smoke exiting the exhaust. On Monday I'll call the...
