Don't think I mentioned yet, but I got new tires... by
Cory Dunkle
I got new tires put on a while ago, the end of last month. I got them from
tirerack.com, but they took a little longer to get here since they were out
of stock at the local warehouse. I ended up getting BFGoodrich Radial T/A in
225/70/15. I like them, they handle much better than my old tires did...

Question about a term in the MUTCD by
DYM
All these references to the MUTCD and speed regulations got me to
actually read (parts so far) of the manual.
In section 2B.13 Speed Limit Sign (R2-1) under the heading Option B:
The pace speed.
What is the pace speed? How is this defined?

World wide, it's about the revenue. by

Once again, those in the profit stream behind automated traffic
enforcement are caught with either sloppy use of the equipment or
outright setting it up to generate more tickets.

safest car for driving expressways by
ap
Hello,
I need some of your opinion. What sedans/wagons
are the safest to be in when driving on the
expressways?
Here in atlanta, the roads are pretty wild with
cars and many trucks weaving in and out, not to
mention following too closely.
I have a 01'Honda accord which was rear-ended

Anyone heard the new NFL Ring tones? by
[email protected]
These tones rock! Every time someone calls Torry Holt tells me to pick
up the phone, lol. Anyone try them yet? I found them in my phone under
ring tones/pictures/downloads. There were others I saw like Priest
Homes and Michael Strahan too. Actually, there's wallpapers in
there as well.

Speed limits are not personalized by
MidnightDad
Speed limits are tuned for the _average_ driver in the _average_ vehicle.
Just because you think YOU have the catlike reflexes and the ultimate
driving machine to handle speeds well above the posted limit, that doesn't
mean you are issued an exemption. There's only one speed limit posted.

I drove below the speed limit today. by
Bob Flaminio
Coming down the peninsula on I-280 today. Raining like a sum'bitch.
Heavy traffic. Foggy. The speed limit is 65 mph, but I chose to drive
45-50 mph, because that was a more appropriate speed for the conditions.
On other days, when it's been clear and traffic light, I've driven the
same stretch at...

What the hell is with people that drive 20 MPH up a straight onramp? I kid
you not, 20 MPH.
The other day I turned onto an onramp behind a driver that was going 20, and
I kept waiting for him to speed up, but he never did. The ramp is long
enough that you can give 50% throttle once you turn onto...

helmets in cars- a right that should be recognized by
Magnulus
Is this legal in Florida?
Why is it illegal in many states and countries?
A small open-face motorcycle helmet (the cheap one that doesn't cover the
ears) could cut fatalities in side impact crashes by about 50 percent, and
it would be safer/easier than getting a car with a side-impact airbag...

airbags and hats by

Has anybody got any idea how an airbag deployment would affect a person
wearing a rigid or semi-rigid hat (such as a cowboy hat or pith helmet, that
sort of hat?).

Passing driver that pulled over & slowed down by
Larry Scholnick
I'm driving along behind a car that is traveling slightly above the posted 35 MPH. He pulls over to
the right (into the parking lane) and slows down substantially. As I pass him, he decides that he
want to return to the regular traffic lane and resume traveling at his previous rate of...

US needs to do something about SUV's and trucks by
Magnulus
Too many people are buying them. It's getting out of hand. If you are in
an accident with one of these things, your chances of dying go up alot. The
worst part is when the suspension is all jacked up on them- then the bumper
will go through a window or over a hood. They need to, at the...

This article is typical of recent articles I have seen on traffic
'enforcement'. The pretext of 'safety' is not even mentioned any more.
Simply how much revenue is generated.

I've always wondered about something... One of the ways I go to work (I
sometimes vary my route to break up the monotony, but the one I'm
describing is the shortest route, thus the one I generally take) takes
me down a somewhat windy, somewhat hilly 2-lane road. Now this road has
