Break-in oil 2004 Accord by
Bo Hica
Just checked the oil in anticipation of a trip in my new accord (3500 mi or
so) and it's still fine, more than halfway up btw the full and add marks on
the dipstick (dipstick is a PITA by the way...).
Just wondering, since they're so adamant about not changing the breakin oil
too soon (I plan at...

If you've got one lying around in good/decent condition, i'll buy it
from you.
I really need the drivetrain & engine sections badly. My clutch is bad
and i want to replace it myself, but i don't want to wait 4-5 weeks to
order it from Helminc.com. it's out of print so it has to be printed

Is Honda brake fluid really superior to its "clone"? by
Daniel
Greetings,
3 years have gone (so quickly) since I bought my brand new Honda
Accord 2001 and the "Maintenance Schdule for Severe Conditions"
official sheet from my Honda dealer says that its time to replace the
brake fluid. It says "Use Honda DOT 3".
My Honda dealer wants $80 for this service.
A...

$175 estimate for tune-up-- too much? by
jbourgeois
I received a $175 estimate for a major tune-up, including replacement of
spark plugs, wires, rotors, distributor cap, and air filter. There is a
$45/hr labor fee, and an estimated time of 2 hrs.
Is this too much? It sounds like too much time...

head thread repair on aluminum block by
Ryan Underwood
We are working on a Honda 90 Accord, F22A4 open deck aluminum block. One of
the head bolts pulled the threads out on removal. This was not noticed until
the head was repaired and reassembly was attempted.
The threads are recessed approximately 2 inches below the deck surface. The
head bolts are...

08 civic warm up issues by
loewent
-35C here this morning.
My daily commute is about 35kms, mostly highway. I started the car
and allowed it to run for about 5 minutes. The block heater was
plugged in, so no excuses for being too cold. After the brief warmup,
its about 100ft to the highway, then highway speeds.
The temp gauge...

Is the compensation number accurate or misleading? by

"...Contrary to an often-repeated myth, UAW members at GM, Ford and
Chrysler are not paid $73 an hour. The truth is, wages for UAW members
range from about $14 per hour for newly hired workers to $28 per hour
for assemblers. The $73 an hour figure is...

Battery cable came off! by
sharx333
Hi, was checking my '95 Civic 1.6L today. It was idling, and I heard
the idle sound change: it seemed higher. I stepped on the gas a bit,
and I heard a soft electrical "pop" near the stereo panel. I hurriedly
shut down the engine, I found that the negative battery cable had come
off! (It had a...

2006 Honda Civic mini-review by
Andrew Szafran
Here's my mini-review of the new Civic, reposted from rec.autos.tech:
I looked at a new Civic yesterday, more out of curiosity then anything
else since my 88 Volvo is still running nicely at 195k miles.
Engine compartment(!):
Cramped, cramped, cramped. In its quest for an additional 0.25 mpg,...

1993 honda civic by
rockinrobin
This sounds dumb but my son bought a '93 Honda Civic that did not have an
owner's manual in it. We would like to know how to set the clock in the
car. Also, if anyone has an owner's manual for the '93 Civic and either
wants to sell it or run off a copy for us at a resonable price, let me
know....

94 Civic: coolant drain/flush and thermostat by
Abeness
I recently had a stuck thermostat at an inopportune time, and had to get
whatever CarQuest supplied the mechanic instead of OEM as I had figured
to put in when I replaced the coolant later this summer. I still have to
replace the coolant and bleed the system, which wasn't done during
thermostat...
