87 Corolla FX Idle Issue by
[email protected]
I have a 87 Toyota Corolla FX(not 16) with a very strange problem. If I
set the idle to normal operating specs the car has a slight miss and
will stall frequently. In order to keep the car running I need to set
the idle somewhere over 1,000 rpm. However, setting it this high causes
the engine to...

Ford does it *again* (more fires) by
Daniel J. Stern
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/16/ford.vehicles/index.html
I'd say it's unbelievable, but it's not. Ford's got a long and, uh,
glowing track record of this kind of stupid ****. What's novel about this
one is the cause: this time it's not poorly-designed alternators or
poorly-designed ignition...

93 Voyager stuck in 2nd geer by
-buddy
Is there any way to manually shift this van?
Its not worth putting in another tranny (this is the second one),
but the engine is still strong (3.3l). I hate to sell it for parts.
I can get it to shift into 3rd if I turn it off and on after
it gets up to about 45 mph. (This gets old quick...

Geo Metro wheel hub removal by
Andrew Sarangan
I am replacing the brake rotors in the 1990 Geo Metro. The rotors are
behind the wheel hub, which can only be removed by taking the axle nut off,
and using a slide hammer to pull the hub off the axle. I am not all that
familiar with the use of a slide hammer. I bought a slide hammer...

Alignment/Measurement Question - Caster of Front Wheels by
Martin
I recently replaced upper ball joints on a '96 Dodge 3500 (1-ton) van.
This vehicle uses pressed-in ball joints, and I replaced them with a
standard C-frame tool. After a few months, one of the ball joints
backed itself out (this is a poor design, IMO). I pressed it back in,
and tack-welded it in...

Help - ID my A/C Compressor by
Bob-O
Hi - The A/C compressor on my 96 Buick Skylark with 3.1 V6 squeals
when A/C is turned OFF, which I interpret as a shot pulley bearing.
With compressor clutch engaged, noise goes away, everything works fine.
All the compressor placard says is "Harrison 153" and some info about
the refrigerant and...

Pontiac Grand Prix power window problem... HELP! by
Mike
Hi All,
Just bought a 98 Grand Prix. Everything on it is fine except the
second day I had it, the front driver's side power window stopped
working. What happens is that if you press the button in either
direction, the interior lights will dim normally as if the car is
giving the power to...

Alex Rodriguez
Anyone ever hear of 'Full' brand filters? I recently placed an order for an
air and oil filter and got this brand I never heard of before. I can see that
the air filter looks ok, but the oil fiter is a mystery to me.

1994 Buick Regal 3.8 - coolant leaking from intake gasket by
Mathieu
My car is a 1994 Buick Regal Custom, 3800 V6, 240,000km (150k miles).
Since about 2 years, some coolant leaks from the intake gasket. At
first I had to add some coolant once or twice a year, now I need to add
a pint every 3-4 weeks. There is no trace of coolant in the engine oil.
The cost to...

95 Ford Taurus Radio Problem by
[email protected]
I bought a 1995 Ford Taurus back in February. It has a standard AM/FM
(no casette) radio in it. The only control that works on the radio is
the power button. There's memory, seek and volume controls on a
dash-mounted panel that all work, however none of the controls on the
radio itself work. I...

Stupid (physics/mecanical) wheel mounting question... by
John D via CarKB.com
If one were to mount a wheel to a hub by starting each lug with 2 turns by
hand then tightening with an impact wrench equiped with a 90-100ft/lb torque
stick (using star pattern or circular, or any other sequence), then
following with a 100ft/lb torque wrench, is it possible that one side of...
