Replace or rebuild parts after 20+ yrs sit? by lib
1) What is the current wisdom on dealing with carb, fuel pump, master cylinder, etc. after long sit? Should items with gaskets, seals, etc. be replaced or kitted if available? 2) Should I consider replacing the rubber cushions in the frame and body mounts if they appear to be intact, or should I...

I'm getting ready to install a new exhaust system w/mufflers on my 63 SB that I bought from Zip- 14-gauge aluminized tubing (.070 wall). Has anyone used a paint on this type of exhaust for a rust inhibitor? If yes, what brand and did they have a good long-term result. I have the paint for the...

Brake line replacement on 63 early question by lib
Is there a way to replace the rear to front metal brake line in one piece w/out removing body? I bought a new line from Zip but can't seem to find a way to install it intact. It appears that perhaps it could be cut and re-coupled to make it install. My concern is it has been stored for 20+ and...

63 early expansion tank cap question by lib
I need to replace the existing cap on my tank. The existing is an old pressure-relief lever type that has deteriorated. I looked at Zip, CC, etc. and they want an original style replacement (#307) cap for $35 approx. I am not re-storing the car for show, it's a driver, and it seems to me if I...

Soft tires/sizes for 63 SB? by lib
What Goodyear model would be a good, smooth, soft-riding tire size for a 250HP roadster? I am interested in a road, not race tire. The entire suspension has been replaced and I will need to have both front and back aligned. The alignment shop recommended that I install the new tires before...

C2 ignition kill switch? by lib
What is the current wisdom on the prefered placement of an ignition kill switch in the electrical system. Is it better to kill one side of the coil, or starter, etc. to prevent an easy hot wire of the ignition switch. Obviously, the switch itself will be secreted. Thanx- Lib

63 small block roadster shocks/springs by lib
I want to put on new shocks that don't give a stiff ride, but also don't let it yaw over in the corners. The springs look good, (the front have a couple of rubber spacers in them) but I don't know what would help me decide to replace the springs. They are not an expensive item, but to just put...

63 rear suspension question by lib
I am going to re-build the suspension in my roadster. I've looked at numerous kits and I think the kit at http://stores.ebay.com/Willcox-Wholesale-Corvette-Parts_W0QQssPageNameZVIStoreHeaderLinksQQtZkm (part #58-33AK 63-64) is the one I am going to get. I noticed that my rear trailing arms have...

My local parts supplier offered me a Borg -Warner kit for approx. $40 less and no shipping. How can I compare what the...
