Clutch Slave Cylinder Replacement/Repair Advice by
Pat Dreiding
I've a 99 miata with a leaky slave cylinder.
The problem's not to bad, but I need to keep an eye on the reserve. I plan
on fixing it shortly - with you help.
I have three options:
1. Have a dealer replace it ( $186.40 )
2. Replace the cylinder myself (~ $50 for the cylinder) + a few hours
3. ...

Turret oil leak by
Morien Morgan
Last week replaced turret upper boot and filled with oil (it was bone dry).
Noticed fresh gear oil on the drive. Re-opened turret to find most of it
gone. Working with a mirror and torch it seems to me that the o-rings that
seal the shifter tube are leaking. I've only recently bought the car and...

Why do California timing belts last longer ? by
Chief_Wiggum
I was thumbing through the manual, and it states the timing belt should be
changed at 60k, but specifies 100k for cars originally sold in California
(and a few other states, which I now forget)..
What gives ? did they ACTUALLY put better belts in some cars, or what ?

Awesomely Scary! FACES OF DEATH VCD for Halloween! by
HALLOWEEN!
For the uninitiated, the original Faces of Death is by far the most
controversial film to date. For this Halloween, watch the real thing. It is
extremely graphic in nature, and most definitely NOT for those with weak
stomachs. This film has more gore and carnage than Jason and Freddy
COMBINED. It...

Good miata mechanic in Dallas area??? by
mita
Hi!!
Hearing some sqeaks which are ever so soft to incredibly loud - not very
consistent either. Started hearing them after I had the timing belt
changed. Can't always reproduce the sound.
Any ideas about a good mechanic here in the Dallas area?
Thank you.

looking for online salvage yard web site by
pws
I had a website bookmarked that showed cars around the U.S. from
different salvage yards. The site had pictures and a description of what
was left on the car and I remember that I could search by category to
see only 1990-1997 miatas.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? I am having trouble finding...

Chief_Wiggum
Is it possible to install a glass rear window in without replacing the whole
top ?
AND
if so, is it possible to make it a no-zip window at the same time ?
My window is fine, but I don't care for the plastic, or the need to unzip it

Soft Top Latch Springs by
McMahon
Top latch spring, left, has finally rusted through and broken. Of course, I
cannot buy solely the latch spring from Mazda Dealer; you have to buy the
entire latch assembly to get a new spring. Interesting that the Left latch
assembly lists for $115 and the Right for $145 - uh, at my...

David G. Nicholls, P.Eng., P.E.
Good afternoon,
I have a 2002 Miata with the six speed transmission and 16,000 km. Lately I
have noticed a stumble when shifting when the car is cold. Does anyone know
of any warranties or other dealer information about any fault with this? I
have just gone through an unfortunate situation with...

charging problems by
Eric Goforth
Hello,
Starting late last summer the original battery in my '91 Miata would run
down after a week or so of use, so I got in the habit of leaving it
hooked up to my trickle charger when I wasn't using it. I replaced the
battery, but ran that one down probably three or four times (after the
2nd...

Ok...I've got a little over a year to think this one over... by
Anthony
Hello everyone. I have been lurking around this board for the last
couple of weeks searching the archives and new messages for as much
information as I can find on Miatas. Here's the deal. In a little
over a year, maybe a year and a half, I intend to buy my first real
sports car, a Miata. I've...

Speaker wiring by
Morien Morgan
A number of UKaftermarket suppliers for MX5 recommend and supply a JVC 10cm
replacement headrest speaker. These are rated at 4 ohm.
I understand that the original Mazda speakers are 8 ohm. I assume that these
are wired in pairs and in parallel - giving a nominal 4 ohm impedance. Using
the same...
