manifold bold torque specs needed by Clark Smith
Can someone tell me what the torques specs are for the 12MM manifold bolts on my 2000 Miata? I couldn't find this on the Miata.net garage torque listing. I just went through the process of taking off the top of the manifold to clean the EGR passage to clear the check engine light. This code had...

What specs for 15" wheels on 04 Miata by [email protected]
Two questions: Is there a guide to specifying 15" wheels for an '04 Miata (backspacing, etc)? I'm buying aftermarket wheels and I want to "minus one" my package. Will 15" wheels clear the stock '04 brakes? (I can't imagine they wouldn't, but I'd like to hear from experience.)

Engine misfires -> Cat Converter fails by Victor[_1_]
Hi, A few weeks ago in an afternoon I'd parked my Miata at an underground parking lot. When I was ready to leave I started my car to find it idling high at around 1500 rpm, which is not unusual considering the low temperature at that time. However, even at that rpm the car felt like it was going...

Double hoop showbar install? by [email protected]
Hi, My GF is buying a very nice '01 se. That car is too much fun! The question is, She likes the double hoop showbars and I was thinking getting her the bars for Christmas. They are all over ebay and fairly reasonable, but with no instructions. They are bolt on, but are ther any mods that have to...

Stuck throttle? by C. Deforrest
Searched the archives, didn't see anything that really applied... The car's a '90 5sp with about 100k on it & in decent mechanical shape. However... Occasionally, when one has the throttle to the floor for a period of time, after lifting your foot, the pedal remains pinned. It's happened 5-6...

Miata thrift store items by pws
I found my first miata items ever at a thrift store today. There was a very familiar looking box on the shelf at Goodwill for the M1 cupholder. Instead of a cup holder inside, there were two mint-condition M1 ashtrays. At $2.00 total, I couldn't pass them up. Any guesses on where they are...

Shock replacements by Mark[_4_]
My '97 is due for replacing the shocks, and I've got them all ready, sitting in my garage. Since my life is somewhat hectic, to say the least, I'm not sure if I'd be able to find time enough in a weekend to do all 4. I was wondering if there is any reason why I couldn't do the rears one weekend...

Removing Softtop assembly etc from '01 by Karl North
Guys, After reading up on the hard top info (and since we now have two Miatas) I'm considering converting the '01 permanently to a hard top. I was thinking of: 1. Having custom permanent brackets built to replace the front latch assembly. It just seems flakey sometimes. 2. Removing the...

Miata Radio by [email protected]
We have a 1990 Miata that was purchased new. The car has been an absolute dream to own. It only has 80,000 miles on it and is only driven by my Wife who treats it like one of the children. The car is always garaged and has NEVER given us any problems....just routine maintenance. Anyway, for some...

2001 Tribute Valve Spring Replacement Question by Pat Dreiding
My car is a 2001 Tribute with 87K miles. I need to get a #4 cylinder value spring replaced. It broke recently and the car doesn't run very well. :-( Does anyone have a "gut" feel as to the size and cost of the effort. A dealer service department quoted me $2,300. Is this reasonable? Should...

Transferring Hard Top from '90 to '01 by Karl North
Hi Folks, I have a friend who has offered me the hard top from his Blue '90. Will it fit my 2001? I was told it would. Do the seals / latches / bolts have to be changed? Has someone written up a "How-To" on their web page? Thanks, Karl N.
