Fiber Optic Cable Hunt by Clams Canino
An internet search for "end glow fiber optic cable" nets me a bunch of lighting suppliers that sell it at my desired 1/8" size - but it's a 4 strand cable. OEM was a 16 strands of a very fine filament in the 1/8" cable cable. I'd settle for 8 strands. Seems they use smaller filament in the...

Old Vinyl Softener? by Clams Canino
OK.... I just picked up a pair of near pristine 1969 seats that were lost in a storage building for a long long time. The vinyl is very "stiff" and before I clean the seats or armor-all the seats or whatever - I want to know what to spray / soak them with to soften them up a good amount. Thanks...

Is there an article somewhere?? by Clams Canino
That lists all the 68isms that changed from 1969 forward? Or perhaps a paper that covers the running changes in general to the C3? I know about: the key on the dash the 4 red tail lights the door opener button the small cluster bezel the lack of a headrest the 2 "pockets" in the e-brake cover

Manual Transmission Question? by Clams Canino
Now we come to the reason I actually came to this forum - and it was not to talk about speeding tickets and Cadillac "trucks" :) Has anyone here "retrofitted" an older Vette with a modern 6 speed overdrive tranny? Yes, I remember form doing the clutch (years ago) that getting the tranny in and...

I have a new C6 and the manual makes a big point about being careful when using any extra-factory electrical equipment with the car/ I want to purchase a Garmin Quest GPS for the car, and use the external plug (into the cigarette lighter) for the power source (instead of the lithium battery. Does...

Front License Mounting Bracket for 2005 C6 Vette by clarke & eileen
Has anyone mounted the front license bracket to a new 2005 C6. Cheesiest rig-up I have ever seen for a car costing $50K+!! I would like to know if anyone has put one of these on, and is there any chance the three "stick-tape" points (about the size of a quarter each) could pull the paint off of the...

need some used Goodyear EMTs? by Clayton E. Cramer
I put a pair of them from my C5 up on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8024888584&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT with a starting bid of $50 for two of them. To my surprise, no one's interested. These have 4/32" of tread left. Clayton E. Cramer

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S vs. OEM tires by Clayton E. Cramer
It is time (especially now that the rains have started here in Idaho) to replace the front tires on my C5. (It is actually perhaps past time to do so.) I have never been thrilled with the noise level of the stock Goodyears, and I see a lot o reviews at TireRack.com praising the Michelin Pilot...

Hidden Squeaks and Squawks in my '96 vette by Clayton Mallory
Here's a problem I'm having that you some of you may know as well. I can't get rid of a squeak that sounds like a chasis squeak when the car bounces under normal driving conditions. I know its a lube issue because when it rains or is wet out, no squeak. Any ideas? Thanks. cm

A few months back, I forgot to latch the top before taking off. I had just accelerated up to highway speed and suddenly, it very bright and very windy--the wind had picked the top off and sent it flying. Remarkably, it didn't hit any other cars, and it didn't break--just got very scratched up on...
