I'm Back! (long) by
Nora
After the Rollerskate (silver '99) got stolen in March 2004, I spent a
very frustrating summer driving the Forester and a rented PT Cruiser.
Now I know what a genuine non-Miata "slushbox" feels like, and the
complaints generally promoting manual transmissions over automatics are
more...

Auto Transmission Oil Filter by
gixer
Hi Guys,
I need some assistance,
I am looking for a part number for the oil filter located in the Jatco
L4N71B Type auto transmission box, fitted in a 1994 Eunos.
It seems that the Automatic Miata was not officially imported into either
Greece or the UK, so Mazda are saying they are not supporting...

Flaking paint on my '99 by
KKennedy
I just bought a used '99. The green metallic paint is flaking on the leading
edge of the hood, under the insignia on the trunk lid, and under the lip of
the trunk lid. Has anyone else had this problem with this model year or this
paint color?

Rain and Intrerior by
Gary
Hi,
Miata: 1991 with hard top on and window slightly open.
I left the passenger side window open about two inches. A half hour rain
managed to enter the Miata and did the following:
(1) Wet the right side of the seat closest to the passenger side door. That
seems to be thoroughly dry after...

Check Engine Light by
The Millers
'96 Miata, w/ OBD II
CEL has been coming on, then after a few drives, going off. This has been
repeating itself for a few weeks now.
Each time I check for a code, the scanner returns P1794. The documentation
that came with the code reader states "Manufacturer Specific Code".

The IAC is in the bottom of the throttle body. It's easy to ruin one if
you don't know what you're doing, so...

'93 Stubborn Rear Window Zipper by
KKennedy
Having left my '93's top up last summer, I now find the rear window zipper
incredibly stubborn. Any ideas on what to use to make it slide smoothly?
Other than WD-40, the 20th century's answer to 3-in-1 oil?

Lanny's Alignment Specs/wear question by
[email protected]
Last time I had new tires put on my Miata, I had the shop set my
alignment to Lanny's specs: http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html
This sets my car up perfect for me. Expected consistant oversteer when
pushed too hard, near perfect tracking although there is a towards the
right drift on roads...

Oil Pressure Goes to Zero when Braking Hard? by
Gus
Something interesting happened today. The pressure gauge on my 91 dropped
quickly toward zero when I braked hard coming off a freeway exit. The
pressure immediately came back up to normal as soon as I let off the brake.
I kept a close eye on the gauge at the next stop light and it did the...

Mazda-626 by
goldengolf
I have a 2000 mazda 626, automatic transmission that will not go in gear.
The shifting lever in on the center console, it will slide forward and
backward through all the gears but will not engage. Could this be a
transmission problem or maybe a linkage problem. Any Ideas?

How to recharge A/C on Miata? by
10AEMX5
I do most of the work myself but I never had to work on A/C. The
problem is it blows hot air and the compressor doesn't kick in
(possibly due to low level of refrigerant). I went to Autozone but the
clerk was clueless when I asked him what kind of refrigerant (they had
different cans of R134A) and...

Converting to another battery by
Chuck
Converting to a "regular" wet cell lead acid battery is not a good idea,
since the battery is in the trunk. Glass mat batteries with correctly placed
vent connections are available--WESTCO battery makes a commonly used
replacement, as do others.
A conventional wet cell battery would need to be...
