Starter Woes by
[email protected]
Had the clutch tube welded and stalled on the drive home. Starter
clicked. After an unsuccessful attempt at bump starting, the starter
engaged and I drove home. Nothing after that but a click. Charged
battery, changed starter, now no click, nothing. Tried a remote
starter button (maybe wiring,...

Dune buggy won't run right warm by
Will Sheppard
This used to be dune buggy won't run warm... Until Speedy Jim alerted me to
some major manifold leaks. I've fixed those and now the engine starts
right away and idles nicely. I take it for a spin and it's great until the
choke goes off completely. Then the acceleration is poor, power is...

valve 'clacking' in 2 liter air-cooled. by
[email protected]
I've got a '75 bus with a '78 engine in it. It's had a recent tune-up
and is a good, strong engine with great compression numbers. But from
time to time it 'clacks' loudly upon start-up and initial running and
doesn't 'mellow down' to a quieter purr.
I recently left the country for 2 months and,...

OT I am a lucky dude!!! by

When I moved into the house I'm in now, there were no auto parts
stores within 5 miles of my house. About a year ago they opened up an
Advance Auto Parts store about 3 blocks from my house. Literally
within EASY walking distance. At almost the same time they opened up
a Bojangles (Southern-style...

'tight' ingnition on a bus by
Terry
I've got another situation with my '75 bus that is buggin' me.
When I am intending to start it and I slide the key into the ignition
and turn it, nothing happens until it sort of goes
'beyond' the 'start' position. In other words .. I turn it
to 'on' ... then I have to turn it REALLY HARD...

warning by
Neil
Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties and local pubs to be
alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman.
Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer" to target
unsuspecting men.
The drug is generally found in liquid form and is now available...

Slow starting 6v by
Tom Nakashima
Another question in regards to the 6v.
I have a intermittent starting problem. When I turn the key, sometimes the
two indicator lights come on, but the engine won't start, just hear a click
sound. I'll have to turn the key to the left (counterclockwise) shutting it
off and try to start it again,...

AC Vw Shops in Houston Texas by
Mike West
Are there ,Is there? a good shop in Houston Texas that can work on my Air
Cooled VW Bug?
I need to swap the body from one pan to another reconditioned one. I would
do it myself but can not round up enough "friends" to help me do it.
Thanks, Mike

welding floor patches by
VAHairballs
I plan on welding in some floor patches to get my car through the VA
inspection
(restore properly later). My question is do I have to drain the fuel tank
before I weld onto the floor? I know that a fire extinguisher is necessary
when welding, but I was asked about fire hazard to the fuel...

Any ideas as to where I can find the cables for a hand actuated sliding

Door hinge binding problem by

My wife's '74 Super has a problem with the passenger door hinge. It
binds and makes it hard to close the door. I've had the door completely off
the car and attempted to drive out the pin with no luck. One of the hinges
is just plain hard to move. I've managed to get some lubricants down...

Coil temp by
MicroBiz
I recently replaced my generator (12v) in my 61 bug with a 55amp Motorola
alternator (12v). Since doing so I think my coil is quite warm. I never
really noticed it being so hot before. I this because of the alternator
swap and should I upgrade the coil as well?
Thanks

Any news on this magazine? Their website is pretty vague, and after the
demise of VWT (still waiting for my refund), I'm very leary of subscribing
to anything else. Weren't they offering a "free issue" a few months back? If
so, with the March issue being their premiere issue, it should be out...

Transporting a Bicycle by
Tom Nakashima
I'm also a cyclist, who rides a road bike, not often but there are times I
need to transport a bicycle in my beetle. Currently I'm taking off both
front and rear wheels and transporting the bike in the rear seat.
Suggestions on how others are transporting a bike.
thanks,
