Max Tire size for Stock 1987 fullsize chevy pickup by Wit
I have an 87 Chevy Silverado that I am doing a little playing with. I need new tires and I like the stock stance (right now because of $$$). Can someone tell me the Max size tire I could get without any lift? I know I can go larger than stock without rubbing but I am not sure how big. Thanks, Wit

Why do small jeeps have such bad gas mileage? by wiseman
I was thinking of a suzuki sidekick. 22 mpg in the city seems bad. What type of engines do jeeps tend to have? Is a 4by4 that important or is chains more important. I do a lot of hiking and the trailhead can be on forest service roads. I do want good gas mileage in the city. My current car is a...

cargo cover for 2004 Toyota RAV4? by willieace
We just recently purchased a 2004 Toyota RAV4, new end of the year model, basic version. One challenge is that the cargo area is left visible to the outside eye. The only solution I've been able to find is the 'Tonneau Cover', a combination of hard material and roller blinds that Toyota lists...

buckled tailgate - pics by willie
Ok, the fix as follows, get a piece of angle iron, the length of the tailgate. Drill and mount with steel screws (as large as looks good) and screw it on. This will pull it back into shape AND leave it stronger for the future. I have used this method many times. Cheers Willie "Mr Roper"...

8 3/4 mod by William O'Connor
Greetings, Sorry for the cross-post but I wasn't sure which group would have the information I was looking for. I have two 8 3/4" 3.55-1 ratio Sure-Grip rear axles that I took out of a couple early 70's Dodge pickups before I junked them (they were basket cases). Here's my problem.

Buyers warning for new Land Cruiser V8 TDi with 6sp automatic transmission by Willem-Jan Markerink
Seems to be a structural defect in the programming (or even design) of both shifting and lockup system, leaving both 6th gear and lockup out until 120km/h, resulting in annoying high rev's & much higher fuel consumption.. Some discussed...

Michelin reduces civil production to satisfy military.... by Willem-Jan Markerink
Odd note from the tire industry.... Seems the military involved around the globe burns their Michelin tires at a too high rate to leave any for the civil market.... (I guess tire size makes no difference either, they probably shift all capacity to the most demanded (large truck?) size (the civil...
