dum dum dum by A New Day
Coming from the front end of my A4 2.4 V6 SE Sedan at 92k miles. It's more noticeable at lower speeds around 20/30 mph. It's not so much a noise more a sound/feeling. I thought it was a plugged tyre but have had both fronts replaced with new and still sensing it. It's just flown through an MOT...

A2 fuel economy by mark
I bought my A2 1.4 diesel about 5 months ago and I've been getting a fairly consistent fuel usage of about 45mpg with a mix of urban and motorway miles. Now, 45 isn't exactly poor, but I've been led to expect figures way in advance of that (like 60 or even 80 mpg from the diesel model) It's been...

Brake servo problem(?) - Audi 100 1985 by Chris G.
Hey (again :-) group Well, aircon's on the back burner again due to the following: My girlfriend was on the way to work this morning when the brake-servo seemed to give up the ghost - there was a total loss of brake pressure, in any case. I've taken a look at the Haynes manual, but was wondering...

2.8V6 30V engine reliability by [email protected]
Does the 2.8V6 30V engine have any known 'weaknesses'? If yes, which are its weaknesses or high cost maintenance items? What mileage can be expected (under normal circumstances, normal driving + good maintenance), give or take 20,000 miles. Is a life expectancy of 200,000 miles realistic?

Electrical problem - anyone else had this? by Peter H
I have an Audi A6 4.2 Avant, '99 model year, and I wondered if anyone could please suggest the source of an electrical problem I'm having... A couple of days ago I tried to adjust one of the door mirrors (using the knob between the front seats). It was quickly apparent that this had been a Bad...

Consumer Reports by NJ Vike
I'm giving the A6 some serious consideration but Consumer Reports indicates a bad grade for the engine. They didn't specify which one but since they didn't give the A8 a bad report for the engine, I'm assuming they mean the 3.2 Anyone having an issue with their 3.2 engine? Ken --

AUDI 1997 A4 - Noisy bearing by car-car
Okay, so I know I have to fix the bearing otherwise my wheels might fly off. I took my car to an Audi dealer and they said it will cost about $700 to fix both sides. Is this about right?

Stock Corvette C5 Convertible vs Audi A8 4.2 race in German streets and Autobahn by [email protected]
The Corvette was kicking the Audi's butt in the streets, but once they got on the Autobahn and the Audi kicked it up to 300+ km/h it was no contest. And this was just a 4.2 liter V8 Audi with the governor removed. Imagine if it was a W12 Audi with the governor removed or better yet the upcoming...

'98 A4 2.8 - Oil light by Jim Elbrecht
Last week my son bought an A4 Quattro with 109,000 miles on it. The engine sounds good & it drives fine. At about 180 degrees the oil light comes on. It goes off and on randomly after a few minutes. Somtimes it will stay on/off for a couple minutes, sometimes seconds. The water and...

Safe to drive with a leaking water pump? by Ron Armstrong
My 93 Audi 100 has coolant leaking from behind the belt cover area so I can only assume it is the water pump. Is it safe to drive it like this until I have the money to have it fixed, or do I risk breaking the timing belt? Thanks

1995 Audi 90 2.8l engine temperature low by Gene Buckwalter
Ok, before you all say that I need a new thermostat, I've been there. :-) The engine temperature guage seems to regulate to the first, thin white line at about 1/4 on the guage. There is a thick white line just below half way up the guage where I would expect the needle to settle. The needle only...

The new A6: True Life Confession by daytripper
I'm officially changing my opinion of the new A6 styling - particularly the head-on view of the nose. But not without a caveat. So, here is my confession: In Brilliant Black, it is down-right handsome, and *amazingly* coherent (a word that will never be applied to the current BMW E60 7er, E65...

C.R. Krieger, Clutch Question by 432rew
C.R. Krieger, I have a question for you. From reading one of your posts, it has become apparent to me that I ride the clutch sometimes and would like to figure out how to get away from it. I'm not new to manual transmission, but every car I have had before my A4 has been old. Can you give me...

brake "bomb": how to pick one at the scrap yard? by Christoph Bollig
South African Audi 500, 1989 (same as Audi100 type 44 in Europe/USA) Hi again, I have the following problem: I finally figured out that my brake accumulator (the "bomb" mentioned so often) is not working either. I always suspected that the breaks didn't work as well as they should when pressed...
