07 Passat Wagon by
[email protected]
Anybody have experience in how much a VW dealer will take over invoice
price? Will it likely be a hard bargain on a new model like this?
I've purchased a jeep & an Isuzu for $500-600 over invoice in the past,
wondering what sort of battle I am in for from the salesman. What's the
realistic sale...

88 Jetta GLI with wobbly brake/clutch pedal assembly by
[email protected]
I just went from owning an 84 GLI (which I broke) to this 88 GLI with
226,000 miles. I am impressed so far. My main complaint is that the
brake/clutch pedal assembly shifts around when I step on either pedal.
It seems like a flimsy setup compared to the A1 design.
I looked at it today with the...

Heater core problem- '92 Golf by
[email protected]
I just finished installing a brand new VW heater core on my '92 Golf.
I filled the system with new G11, fired it up, and was delighted to
have no more leaks and smell of coolant in the passenger compartment.
But... a few minutes later I was less delighted to find I had no heat!
A quick inspection...

Remove exterior door handle on jetta 4 (2002) by
Shorty
Hi,
I have a Jetta 2002 and the exterior door handle does not work on my
left rear door. It looks like the tab with the cable that gets pulled
to open the door got disengaged from the handle. My questions is: Which
screw do I need to remove to remove the handle? The one behind the
plastic cap is a...

Evaporative Emission System Question by
Brian Running[_1_]
Check engine light came on the other day, code P0442 -- slight
evaporative control system leak. 2001 Jetta GLS with 2.0L engine.
My question for you experts is -- is there a particular part or
condition that typically causes this? In other words, is this one of
those well-known things, like...

94 Jetta GL power sunroof problem by
Travis
I have a 94 jetta, and the Power sunroof is not closing all the way.
As far as I can tell the leftside of the window is prematurly going
into tilt mode, before it slides forward all the way. This is causing
it to ride up and jam on the roof. Does anyone have an idea on how to
fix the problem. ...

'81 Scirocco craps < 2800 rpm by
nutso fasst
Hello.
This happened suddenly, stopped briefly, then started again:
Engine starts but idles (barely) extremely rough. Give it a little throttle
and it runs terribly rough, with backfires, until rpms are coaxed above 2800
or so, then it runs smooth.
Ambient temp is 100F and humid, but engine is...

A3 poly belt tensioner by

Hi the
Anyone have any advice on replacing the poly-ribbed belt tensioner on an
A3 diesel (or anything else that has the self-tensioning alternator/AC
belt)? Bently seems to be silent on the matter. Mine's making a
rattling noise at idle. I replaced the idler/roller/pulley/whatever you...

Woo Hoo! by
David
Yay success at last. Problem turned out to be a split vacuum hose going
to the wastegate pulloff chamber. Runs good now with plenty of pep, & no
more fault codes or check engine light. I was fearing I'd loose my left
knut to the VW Dealership in labor charges.

2006 Rabbit by
higgledy
What is going on at VW? Why would they introduce their new platform as
a Golf only to change it's name months later to Rabbit? Don't get me
wrong I owned and loved a '79 Rabbit. But it seems that it is time for
VW to shop for a new marketing firm.

97 Golf GL 2.0L - Stalls with when A/C is running by
Spritalite
I've recently had problem with stalling and corrected it by removing and
cleaning the throttle body. It runs fine now but will stall out when I come
to a stop if the air conditioner is running. No OBD-II error is ever
generated. Should I replace the throttle body, or might it be the coolant...

Golf problem that has the experts baffled by

I have a 2002 VW Golf E 1.4 petrol.

sit in the car at lights and feel it shaking. Occasionally the Exhaust
emission warning lamp came on. Before getting booked in to a garage the
warning lamp stayed on all the time and...

Soda spilled on Beetle auto shifter? by
[email protected]
About an ounce of Dr. Pepper got spilled on my 2000 Beetle's automatic
shifter. After a few hours, I started having problems putting my car
into reverse or drive. Apparently the shift solenoid was sticking from
the soda. I took it to VW service and they cleaned it out which cost
about $130....
