Reliability on 328xi? by newbie[_2_]
I am divided on a 328i vs 328xi. Some people were saying the awd is nice but could give me problems down the road. It costs more too. I want a fun car. The only reason i was thinking of awd was being able to get up some big hills to my house in ice and snow. Or going skiiing. I get more of a...

Shutting the windows by Jono[_2_]
Hello, What do I have to do to be able to shut the windows with the remote on my 2003 E46? I can happily open all the windows by holding down the unlock switch on the remote....but cannot close them. I can see an occasional need to open them; I need to shut them more often, though.

My 2006 x3 with 30000 miles gets just 16mpg overall hiway and city. Its epa rating is 17 city and 23 hiway. What gives? There is nobody in the car except little old me and I drive 10 miles each day on the hiway.

Any Wagon drivers out there? by Guppy Pilot
Looking for folks to share their 3 and 5 series wagon experiences. I'm currently driving a 330ci convertible, but with one child and another on the way, it's just not cutting it any more. Time to grow up, I guess.. Although most likely I'll be hauling kids around, I'm also interested in how well...

2000 E39 Leak - What is it? by JB[_8_]
I have a 2000 E39 with 180,000 miles. It's been leaking oil now for the last few months, however, I am not 100% sure it is oil. Based on the amount (of what ever it is) that's been leaking, I would assume if it was oil then I would eventually be low a quart. When I pull the dipstick it's...

Automotive Slogan War Heating Up by Comments4u
With little truely new to offer in 2011, automakers have turned to Madison Avenue for help. Consumers have become desensitized to rebates and incentives. Product and deals have taken a back seat to sloganeering. Toyota will kill their drab "Moving Forward" slogan. The leading candidate for its...

E30 exhaust system recommendations by tbrown
Hi all, I installed an aftermarket exhaust system on my `91 318is about 3 years back, and the fit was awful. Within about 2 years, the weld at the back end of the resonator cracked. Can anyone reccomend a better source? Would a dealership sell something better, or is it all from the same...

Tool question by Trey
I am working on filling in my tool collection with some nice, high end (high quality) tools. I have found Wiha for most of the precision hand tools. However, I am having trouble locating a German company that makes socket sets and wrenches. A friend of mine told me there was an Italian...

Reflections on a 350 mile test drive of a 2003 330i ZHP by nopcbs
Just finished a 350 mile test drive of a 2003 330i ZHP in nice with 20,000 miles on the clock. Observations: The car has more than ample power. It accelerates from pretty low speeds well in any gear, but 6th. Very impressive for a 3 litre six. The engine loves to wind. I got 28 mpg averaging...

E39 bodily fluid? by Dean Dark
the other day I found a small pool of what looked like plain water on the garage floor about center of the car's engine bay when parked. It was about the viscosity of thin oil and had no noticeable smell. It wasn't brake fluid or engine oil. It only happened once. Is there anything in the front...

Another Disappointing BMW Dealer by M C
Hi, I recently took my car to a BMW main dealer for a brake fluid change and a new window regulator and I had asked them to have a quick look at the front brakes while it was in as I was getting a shimmy. They called and said it needed new front discs and pads and I asked for a quote. The quote...

Buying a '92 BMW 535, worried about failing emissions by Ulf
Hello, I'm in the market for a used car and today I looked at a very nice '92 BMW 535. However, when the owner showed me the papers from the last safety inspection I noticed the car was very close to failing emissions. It had a HC reading of 98 PPM, with max allowed being 100 it was only *two* PPM...

Reverse parking sensors by Huw
For the sake of argument, say that I wanted to install aftermarket reverse parking sensors to an entry level new 3 or 5 series model. How would it be wired? A 'normal' car would be easy. Just scotchlock a cable into the reverse light feed and fix the other cable to an earth. It's not that simple...
