odometer swap to be larger km, not miles? by Brendan Kehoe
Ireland recently switched the speed limit signs over from being based on miles per hour to kilometers per hour. There are tricks to convert the speed in your head so you can quickly look at the odometer to check your speed. But it'd be cooler if I could get a replacement face for my TT's odometer...

Who is the ****ing idiot who decided to put the battery inside its own compartment, and then make an access hatch NOT BIG ENOUGH TO ALLOW ME TO REACH THE CELL CAPS????? (2000 / a4 / 1.8T) So in order to even LOOK to see if there is enough water I have to open the whole plenum. And THEN they: 1....

new 1989 coupe owner - couple of questions by Jamie Fisher
Hi all, I'm the proud 9th owner of a 1989 coupe 2.0e (UK), & I like the car, though predictably it's got a couple of issues: 1. Once the engine has warmed up, the revs pulse at idle, between 900 & 1100 rpm, about once a second. Funnily enough, my last bmw did a similar thing, & belive they both...

social commentary, performance art or smut? by [email protected]
I just came across the website for a video called "hunting for bambi". >From the looks of it, it seems to be a low-brow stab at the OLN/Playboy genres of cable networks, but also comes across as a misogynist celebration of gun culture. Does anybody have any insight or opinions as to what else it...

CV joint on Audi A6 by Mark
Hi, My low mileage 1999 Audi A6 has recently developed a noise coming from the front end. The noise sounds like grinding and banging and only occurs when on full right hand lock (turn). My guess is that it is a CV joint. Can anyone tell me how to confirm this diagnosis and how to fix this? ...

Fitting a full size spare in an Allroad by Gordon
Has anyone tried to modify the spare tyre well to squeeze a full size tyre into it? If it's possible, I'll buy an Allroad. Otherwise, I don't know. I've had enough flats on rough roads to know some time down the track it's going to be a major PITA. Gordon

1992 Audi 80 2.0E - ticking when warm by Seppo Sipilä
My Mrs has a 1992 Audi 80 2.0E (115hp if memory serves, with fuel injection). At cold start it runs fine and smooth. When at normal warm temperature, it sounds a bit rougher and there's a persistent ticking sound that changes tempo with rpm. The engine runs evenly and power/torque feel fine, and...
