WHAT?? cruise control not standard !!?? by
SS
Is that right - cruise control is an option on the Alfa 156?
I'd have expected a car of that class to come with that feature straight out
of the box - yet the AR website shows it as an option..

I've sent my 3 pictures of "IT" to the Top Gear Carbage page (good
suggestion Pete:-):

Next a stern letter to the AROC club magazine editor suggesting that we

Hardwiring in a Radar Detector by
Graeme Cosgrove
Just got myself a radar detector, as the points were beginning to mount
up and driving to the speed limit is not always an option in an Alfa.
Anyway, I quite like the idea of hardwiring it into the electrical
system, and there is a cable supplied with the unit to do just that.
(It's a Snooper S2...

low profile tyres + snow = kerb :( by
Grahame
Depressing calculation:
(10mph + snow on ground + turn right) = (understeer + kerb + bump)
Alfa GT 18" aloys, now with nasty scrape and steering wheel shake increasing
with speed.
I know I can have the cosmetic damage on the alloy fixed for around £40, but
what other damage do you think could...

Alfa 147 Excessive Crankshaft End Float by
phoenix1973
Hi all! I have an Alfa 147, which is almost 4 years old with 37,000
miles. I absolutely loved it when I first bought it, but then things
started to go wrong.
First, there were a few wiring problems, where airbag warning light
kept coming on and I had to take it to a garage 4 time for the...

Recommendations: UK insurers by
John Gallagher
Afternoon all!
Hurtling towards insurance renewal time for my GTV TS and wondering if
anyone has any recommendations for insurers/brokers who aren't too happy to
rip you off on a group 17 car ;-)
Current insurer won't say how much to renew yet, only that it'll "... be
into 4 figures..." which was...

Valuation: 164 Lusso TwinSpark by
Colonel Tupperware
I don't quite know how this has happened, but I seem to be the proud?
owner of an Alfa Romeo 164 2.0l Twin Spark Lusso.
Leather and alloys, lowered suspension kit. Grey paint, no rust,
sunroof, 5sp manual.
Its not in the 1st flush of youth, being a 1992, but it has just
passed its MOT and runs...

All,
Just bought a used 156, 1999. However, the spare key does not work - the
remote central locking button is broken. How much can I expect to pay
for a replacement key in the UK ?

Alloy Wheels by
Tom Boltwood
I've just come into some 164 3.0 Super alloys. However, my TSpark is 4 stud
and the 3.0 was 5 Stud. Stupidly, I assumed that 164s would all have the
same wheel fixings. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to wheels, so can
anyone tell me:
a) why they have different stud patterns on these...

Servicing 156 by
Graeme Cosgrove
The 36K service is due on my 2.0 156, and I have noted that there is some
variance over the timing belt issue.
The dealer (Caledonia in Preston), has given me a price of £360 for the
service, but told me that they only "check" the belt, as it is replaced at
the 76K service. If I "wanted" to have...

How safe is an AR 166 by
DJ
How safe are the AR 166's in a crash - lets say in a drivers side head on
impact at 40mph , does the AR 166 have effective crumple zones or is the
driver likely to be wearing the break pedals in his chest !!
Generally how are they rated .
Cheers

Alfa Romeo 156 alarm won't turn off problem by
Alfie Norks
I have a 156 (X reg = 2000) and I tried to use it on the weekend only
to find that both of my car keys don't seem to be able to turn off the
car alarm. It's not the key batteries as the chance of both keys being
dead at the same time is very slim - and the key lights come on when I
press their...
