Can I buy a manual trans anymore? by fggfgf
We're getting ready to replace our 2000 Explorer 4cyl, manual trans. I love it very much but miles are getting up there and some rust is starting. I can find very few suv's with a manual trans. Ford no longer offers one in the explorer. Chevy no, Dodge no, Jeep no, Subaru yes. Anything else?

In Search of Part 710 by E
Yeah, I did a very dumb thing this weekend. I lost that part thingee under the hood. Part #710. I've been all over town looking for a replacement. I think it could be very dangerous driving with out it. I could destroy the engine or even cause fire. I tried Auto Zone - no luck but they said...

Have a '86 Grand Wag with a steering wheel that wobbles. Am told it's a long job to access the nuts to tighten it. Could I use a Dremel and cut away the plastic tunnel to get at the nuts & bolts? Molesworth

Russian (off)road by Willem-Jan Markerink
During our rallye, we did wonder what that 'road' would look like after only a hint of rain, or <gasp> even snow....:)) http://englishrussia.com/?p=315 (even the hard/tarmac roads have pot-holes so deep that even the largest Russian semi-military trucks have to avoid them....which means that...

need help suping up the engine of my 2.8L 173ci 84 ranger engine. need tips and suggestions by ranger
I have a 2.8L 173ci 1984 ford ranger. I have already made the exterior awesome. It has a 2" lift, 32" tires, a red 3" role bar, a 3 step front bumper, a red hood bump and red trim. The ranger itself is black. Now comes my favorite part of the job, the engine. I love engines but my knowledge is not...

There's much more than drunk drivers that need to be controlled by donquijote1954
There's much more than drunk drivers that need to be controlled. It's the whole system that needs to be changed. The License to Kill given to absolute beginners, the lack of lane discipline (passing on the right, something unheard of in Europe), the reckless talk on the phone, the driving of...

LIFTER OR ROD TAPPING IN MY 88 GRAND WAGONEER... by [email protected]
Recently purchased my 88 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and had it in the shop for a tune up and carburetor cleaning. It has a little over 150K on it and I noticed a few days ago a tapping sound whenever any load is put on the engine (going up hill or accelerating). It doesn't tap when idling and seems to...

2wd with locking diff or basic 4x4 by [email protected]
I don't know much about 4x4 trucks so I've got a pretty basic question. I've started looking at newer Tacomas. My needs are pretty basic and I'm looking at the base model 2.7l 4 cylinder 4x4 with manual trans. I do a lot of driving on desert dirt roads to get to hiking trail heads. Most of...

4x4 with no limited slip? by [email protected]
I'm looking at a 2006 4x4, 4 cylinder, manual, with SR5 package. This does not have limited slip, and is not an option. I live in southern Calif so seldom see rain or snow. Several times a year I might go to the ski areas, but then you primarily have fresh snow, and I'm just on the roads. The...
