Shifting into D from P or R takes a couple seconds for the tranny to respond. It seems to shift fine. Is this common or what? TIA

Is there a way of testing the glow plugs. At present, the engine starts easily if I allow the glow plug light to go out twice and then start the engine. Aloso if the engine is hot. The problem is on a cool day, the glow plug light does not come on and it takes 3-4 goes to start the engine.

Has anyone had problems with their Power Locks? I have an A4 1.8 Quattro and my dealer tells me that I need to change the pump as it is unserviceable. New pump with labour is 1300 $ Canadian. I think I am getting ripped off. Any ideas? Donny
