73 Super Steering Binds by
Steve Dechant
I need some help - I recently replaced most of the front end on my 73
Super Beetle; I had no idea how old the parts were and they were
showing some serious wear. To make a long story short, the car now
has a new center tie rod, new outer tie rods and ends, new ball
joints, and a new(er) steering...

wheel falls off :/ by
David Gravereaux
Me and my wife are in our beater 73 Super (not the good 73 that isn't
completed yet) just got on the highway after filling up the tank. Not
even a half mile up the road the steering fall starts to shake, then got
worse quickly. Instinct says let off on the gas and pull over. Right
then the...

Kafertoys
Not even over and I can see what a joke of a resto that bus is.
Trust me thats not the way to do that bus, Think after the baja and this 58
they must think VW's are not worth doing a quality job on.

Problems bleeding brakes by
Richard Golding
So what am I doing wrong?
I've tried this both the traditional two-man "pump, pump, pump, hold!"
method as well as the one-man vacuum pump (mighty mite) method, and I still
seem to get a small stream of air bubbles out of all of my bleeder's
nipples. Is this acceptable? Is it normal?
The brakes...

Super Beetle Steering Wheel Assembly by
Birdlander
Hi all,
I've picked up a stock steering wheel and horn pad from separate sources,
but now I can't figure out how to assemble. How does the horn pad stay
attached to the steering wheel--it seems like it ought to just "snap" onto
the plastic part that covers the steering column just behind the...

Horn Wiring Hell - Escaped by
Spike
Hi,
As someone who gets a lot out of these VW groups I thought I'd like to give
something back.
Thanks to those who answered my questions before on the horn wiring, and
although no-one managed to give me a definitive answer, they helped get me
thinking in the right direction.
Below follows a...

Semi OT VWoA by
Bill Berckman
Well it has been 3 or 4 years since I have heard about VWoA suing anyone over a
domain name or something else if anyone still remembers that. If you were
going to buy a new commuter car, would you go with a Watercooled VW? The
reason I ask is that someone who knows that I have an old VW, asked...

Type IV motor in a Beetle by
Jeff Kleier
I was wondering if anyone has performed the conversion of putting a Type
IV motor into your Beetle. From what I've read, the Type IV is stronger
and more reliable than the Type 1 motor. I was wanting to know if
anyone had done the conversion and if they were happy with it.
Any information would...

More Engine Fires by
Bob Hoover
To All:
It's been more than ten years since I began posting VW fix-it-up
billy-dews to the Internet. The first article I posted told folks how
to prevent engine fires, addressing a problem Volkswagen addressed
official in 1957 or '58 in a Service Note to their dealers.
Time has added a few more...

OT Kids these days...... by
Shaggie
My 9-year-old son just asked me why people say "Ladies first" and my
daughter was standing beside him when he asked. I told him it was
because it is the polite thing to do and then he asked the dreaded
question. "Why?" Why is it the polite thing to do? I sorta wanted
to tell him that it's...
