Oil Pressure Question by
bob tonucci
I have a 74SB with a new rebuilt engine (JC Whittney HD oil pump), the oil
pressure is about 5psi at an idle when hot and about 25 psi at 2500rpm
measured with a mechanical oil pressure gage. My question is, with the idiot
light pressure switch in the engine the light flickers on at an idle but...

Hesitation by
bug '59
Hi ramva,
I've been tinkering with my bug for a while to get a smooth acceleration.
When gaining speed i feel a lack of power, and higher in the revs it seems
like the the engine can't keep pace (like it won't get enough fuel).
It started when i changed the stock fuel pump with a brasilian one....

Howdy folks,
We have a lovely '78 VW Westy. Our main problem is that it starts to
stall after about 2 minutes of driving, unless you are driving at
highspeeds or revs.
Whether this is part of the problem or not, there is a piece of the
body which is underneath the engine, where the accordian...

Body saw recommendations anyone? by
remco
Hi all
I've been tinkering around with my sawsall on my bug but it feels like I am
doing surgery with an axe. It is big and cuts too quick.
A cutoff wheel works well, but that's really the other side of the spectrum.
Having used a pneumatic body saw before, I was thinking that this seems to
be a...

remove the body to prerpair the floor pans. But will need to tow the

so would need the 'chemical bath' that is a
good idea on any used tank anyway.
This is the fuel injected type tank.
A great man once said, "Every time a part
from the old air-cooled generation of vw's
is taken to the...

I've been away for a while, enjoying the Wonderbus, and out camping in
our 84 water-cooled (evil, hiss hiss) Vanagon while I have been
outfitting with low-power lighting, and solar panels. That way, Mrs
Squirrel has a cozy and happy little home to camp in which makes her

Oil Filler Nut Gasket for '74 Bug by
[email protected]
Well, I finally got the oil filler and nut off of my '74 Beetle. It
was leaking a little oil and of course, was very difficult to get off.
I grinded off the tin and then used a pipe wrench and vice-grip to get
the nut off. Actually, the nut broke but that's okay.
I have a replacement nut and oil...
