12 volt flasher in 6 volt system by
Masospaghetti
Working on a 6-volt electrical system, and the 6-volt flashers are kinda
hard to come by (and more expensive then the 12-volt ones!) The flashers
work with amperage, right? If I used a 12-volt flasher, i'd just have
half the total wattage that i'd have with a 6-volt?

Bad vibration at idle when AC compressor kicks in by
[email protected]
I have a 97 accord EX. When sitting in the car with the engine idling,
the whole car starts to shake and vibrate when the AC compressor kicks
in. The engine normally idles at about 7500rpm. When the AC compressor
kicks on, the RPM drops which causes the shaking. Is it simple to have
a mechanic...

4T60E in failsafe mode by
[email protected]
I've got a 95 Buick Regal 3.8 with the 4T60E transmission. Over the
life of this car, this transmission has given me no problems
whatsoever. Recently, we were visiting some friends in the mountains
that have a very very steep driveway. We were parked on the incline to
wait for them to move a car so...

air conditioning by
[email protected]
I purchased a 2005 Hundai Accent with a built-in air conditioner. This
is the first time in my life that I ever drove a car with an air
conditioner. My question is this: Suppose my car has been parked for
five hours. If I turn on my air-conditioner one minute after starting
my car, will I get...

Stripped threads in carburetor by
Joe Dackman
I have a 1981 F-150 with 302 motor and automatic transmission. Bought it a
few months ago from a guy whose condo association made him get rid of it.
The fuel filter is the sort that screws into the carburetor. While
replacing it I managed to damage the threads in the carburetor inlet.
What I'm...

1996 2.4L Dodge Stratus by
Richard B via CarKB.com
I have no spark on the #2 and #3 cylinders. I replaced the coil pack,
camshaft sensor, and crankshaft sensor. I still have no spark on the #2
and #3 cylinders. I also cheked the ASD relay and Fuel Pump Relay. They
check out fine. Could this be a faulty PCM?

2000 Baravada ball joints replacement problems by
[email protected]
I have a 2000 Bravada with bad upper and lower ball joints. We jacked
the vehicle from the frame behind the door and supported it on the
lower control arm. Starting first on the driver side we next removed
the caliper and bracket that holds the brake pads. The caliper was tied
up out of the way. We...

Opinions---Jaguar by
A family member just bought a 1999 Jaguar. It is the Vanden Plaz signature,
but I am not sure
what else it is. Says it is a straight 6 cylinder. Has 40,000 miles and
paid less than $15,000.
The question is, what is he likely to encounter with this car?
Old Jaguars were trouble, with frequent...

Hello. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry LE. The engine is a 2.2-L, 4-cylinder
engine.
The car is, obviously, about 7 years old. However, the car has only
28000 miles on it.
Recently, a Toyota dealership performed an oil change. As part of the
oil change, the dealership performed a routine inspection...

Trouble shifting into Reverse by

I have an '03 Toyota Camry 4-cyl. (a made in Japan model) with 5-speed
manual tranny. Has about 30K (most of it highway).
Recently it has been more and more likely to be reluctant to shift into
reverse. Having driving manuals for 30+ years, I know most of the
tricks -- shift into first, move...

Air conditioning vs DRL by
At one point, it was suggested that disabling DRL's was a fuel saving issue,
and calculations
show that for a large numbers of cars and miles driven, there is a finite
savings in fuel. This
might be statistically and regulatorially significant when combined with
other techniques which
yield small...

I am sick of this problem with my car. It has gradually gotten worse
over the past few months. I don't know if all the events are related,
but here they are.
It started with the cruise control just turning off for no apparent
reason going down the highway. That happened a few times over a...

Hello
I have this 86 Ford escort diesel.
I've replaced the starter for the second time. I also replaced both the
starter solenoid, and the "solenoid" on the firewall.
I drove the car for awhile, and left it parked for awhile. I came back
and it had enough juice to turn the glow plug lights on,...
