2000 528I sport, auto with 39,000 miles. What should I look out for? Also, do these vehicles still use the guibo? Thanks in advance. Note the NOSPAM in the address.

Problems starting engine.. by Jim Pineau
I was hoping that a BMW guru could point me in the right direction. My 1989 525i is experiencing a very strange problem. Most of the time it starts normally. Sometimes when I turn the key it just spins the engine over and does not fire. If I wait a few seconds and try it again it usually starts...

BMW 1 series sales figures for Sept. '04 by Peter Bozz
Well, the numbers are just in. In its first month on the market (September 2004) the 1 series sold better than the 3 series here in the Netherlands. The 1 is overall the 25th most sold car for that month ahead of for instance the Toyota Corolla, the Citroen C3 or the Fiat Punto. Both the VW Golf...

The dreaded missing pixels by John Carrier
Well, one of the E39 diseases has infected my '03 530i. The dash display has several lines of missing pixels in the trip odometer and OBC displays. I know this is not uncommon and I will probably replace the thing under warrantee. (If it happens outside of warrantee, there's a shop...

Is there a good way to raise a power window manually? 1995 325is by Nick Miller
The drivers side power window motor recently went out on my 1995 325is leaving the window 2/3 open. Is there a safe way to force the window up? I've pulled off the door panel and see plenty of places to pry. I'd like to get the window up without destroying anything in the process. Thanks, Nick

325i vs G35 by Brent Wege
Both of these cars are about 33k new with the sports package. I really like the quality and looks of the bimmer but am feeling some "buyers remorse" when considering purchasing it. The G35 is 280 horse with 270 lb of torque for the same price as the 325i which is only 184 horse with 175lb of...

E39 automatic tailgate malfunction by Lars
Hi, About 75% of all times the automatic tailgate does not open by itself when activated. It clicks open about 1-2 inches. The motor keeps running but seems unable to pull it all the way up. A little help by pulling the tailgate about 1 inch up makes it work and it opens completely. Closing it...

Warranty question by DFS
Looking at a '02 5series on ebay with 23,000 miles. Was listed as no warranty, but a clear title, so I asked the seller about the remainder of factory warranty. He claims that it was rear ended by a motorcycle, and an airbag went off (?) , so BMW voided the warranty. I'm guessing that an airbag...
