Curiouser and curiouser by John[_28_]
Jeez, its quite!. After very much longer than I care to admit I twigged that the cause of my T3 being reluctant to start when hot may have nothing to do with carburation. Taking the other approach I decided to look at ignition electrics. Ignition is fed by a relay under back seat energised by...

Anyone tried them? by John[_28_]
I,m looking at a SVDA Distributor ( equiv 113-905-205) on ebay. ~$50 in Aust dollars. ( veedub-online store) Obviously Chinese manufacture for that price and looking at other ads it seems to be used by other suppliers to put ignition modules in and sold for about $125. Has anyone one used...

FS: Hazet 36 mm striking wrench by Eric[_20_]
I have a Hazet 36 mm striking wrench for sale. It's used, but the wrench points show no wear. It works great on the rear axle nuts when you don't have air tools available or when they aren't enough. See page 62 of the Hazet...

Ignition switch wiring?? by Jan Andersson[_4_]
Someone needed help with wiring on his newly acquired kit car. As far as he knows the donor was a 73 Beetle (US). He claims the VIN starts 1332-something. That does not correspond to any VW of that era. The wires coming from the ignition switch a a thick red wire a thin red wire a black wire

Another one gone. by P.J.Berg[_9_]
This car was part of this years 'Russefeiring', where our students celebrate the finishing of the equivalent to College. It involves heavy partying for the better part of a month. The vehicles varies from huge articulated buses to smaller vans like the one in the picture, it is however very...

valve lash every other week, GRRR by David Gravereaux
Just venting... Motor is stock down under with EMPI 3417 merged header exhaust, Weber ICH dual carbs and SCAT 1.25 ratio rockers. It runs great 'cept I forgot to change the front engine seal when I had the flywheel turned, thus it drips quite a bit.. I'll pull it sometime and fix it. Oil...

Father Of The VW Beetle by Bill Berckman
In every VW book I have read, they cite Ferdinand Porsche as the person who designed the VW Beetle. I ran across some information today that disputes that. It says that an engineer by the name of Josep Ganz was the person responsible, but because he was Jewish, he was forced to leave Germany...

Those dowel pins on the flywheel. by Mr. K[_2_]
I was looking at this; and I wondered ; Why are those dowels so short. It would seem like they should be long enough to "fill" the flywheel and the crank . you know maybe another 3 mm in length. Does anyone make longer ones. and are there Oversize ones ? TIA -- Karma, What a concept!

Whats it cost. by DogDiesel
To restore a VW air-cooled these days. A few scenarios . A disassembled rolling good body bug. With and without a motor. One with welded in rust repair panels. that needs assembled and painted. Not running. or with the original motor that was running when it was parked. A running...

Air vs coil by euroteam1
I am a retired Pastor trying something new. I just acquired a V W Beetle/dune buggy. Apparently the kids who tried to build it couldn't figure out how to raise the body of the dune buggy up from the V W chassis to fit the 20" spoke rims. They put 2 pieces of HY 80 angle iron in to replace the...

Today's hint; by Mr. K[_2_]
well, installing an engine in a '71 Van went pretty well, but I forgot to thread the accelerator cable as it went in. So, being claustrophobic , I found a long tube the same dimensions as the original throttle tube. Push that thru inches longer and it was a lot easier to find down under. Hope...
