Ignition cutting out by RoyJ[_2_]
'87 Wrangler with 4.2, ignition just cuts out randomly. Usually happens at low RPM, either sitting at the stoplight or speeding up after slowing at an intersection. Always restarts after hitting the starter, won't restart with a clutch bump. Behaves like a loose wire, bad connection, bad switch...

Bad Radiator Cap by Larry[_21_]
Has anyone in this group ever had a problem with a radiator cap? Having just come into town from a short road trip with our 2001 Grand Cherokee, my wife pulled into the garage and all of a sudden there was a large pool of coolant under the engine compartment. I opened the hood and found coolant...

ZJ track bar axle end repair lessons learned by J. Clarke[_2_]
Finally got around to welding on a washer. So far so good but I'm not really happy with it. First lesson learned. There are no readily available commercial washers that are a good fit on a 10mm bolt. 3/8 is tighter on it than 10mm. 9mm won't fit over it, nor will 5/16. Second lesson...

My ZJ has been delclared clynically dead, What to replace it with? by WoodsStalker
1997 ZJ, great vehicle I purchased 5 years off lease. 100,000 miles later, the "frame" is gone. Factory transmission, factory service during the time I have owned it. NY winters and salt have claimed the body, but not its spirit! What would you replace it with, not liking the smell of a new car. 5...

Stupid welder question by J. Clarke[_2_]
I've got a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I've got two problems with it I need to address. One is that the steering knuckles have notches worn or correded into them on the sliders where the brake pads ride, the other is that the bolt-hole where the track bar is secured to the frame has gone...

Handy tip for Renix injection systems TPS adjustment. by Budd Cochran[_2_]
My 89 XJ wasn't shifting right (AW-4 auto) and neither the instructions in my Chiltons or my Haynes manuals seemed to work for setting the TPS. But I remembered reading about another method using a percentile of the measured supply voltage (across the grey and black wires at the connector to...

4.0 to 258 swap by Budd Cochran[_2_]
I know that I'm going to need to rebuild an engine for my 89 XJ, either the one in it or the one in the 88 XJ. Both are over 300,000 miles. But I got to thunkin' ... since 99% of my driving is within 20 miles of home, since I often tow a utility trailer to recycle various metals (about a 1/2...

thinking of getting a mig by DougW[_2_]
Just a small buzzbox that takes 110. Flux core, but possibly with the ability to take a bottle. I'm no welder. Except for that one time I stuck an effing screwdriver into a live breaker box. O_O Looked at this http://bit.ly/A3iTDI little Lincoln Electric Handy Mig. Major purpose is to fix the...
