97 A6 pops crackles when turning right by Shaw Moldauer
My A6 avant will crackle and pop when turning right. It sounds like water hitting a hot surface. I'm guessing cloged drains. Anyone know where I can find the drains (underneath I hope) so I can blow them out? Are they just under the firewall coming though the bootom of the car? Thanks...........

Radio use with engine off by howitzer
Hello All I have an '03 A4Q 3.0 Sport, 6spd. Is it OK to have the ignition on without the engine running? I think I can hear the fuel pump running in this position. If this will eventually damage something like the coils, how can I listen to the radio with the engine off without an ACC...

Can anyone advise if it is possible to obtain a repair kit for the rear brake callipers of my A6 1.9TDI 1999. It would seem that as the dust cover (rubber) has perished, I am face with a £130.00+ bill for an exchange calliper. What happened to good old calliper repair kits?

Rough running T T by Lee Jordan
I have a 2000 TT with just under 36000 miles on it. Tonight, all of a sudden, as I was leaving an intersection, it started running really rough. When you give it gas to take off, you can hear a loud sucking sound under the hood. Kinda like it's sucking a lot of air but it doesn't want to move very...

I hope someone can help me with the following problem. I drive a A4 1.9 TDI 110 Pk automatic transmission, 95000km. I just had it checked and had the timing belt replaced, but the dealer didn't check out my problem. It drives great, but when i'm standing still and the gear is in 'Drive' the car...

Synthetic oil by bill
All, First, sorry for the cross post, but I regularly read both, and would like to get opinions from both groups. What I'm looking for is a good, independent comparison of synthetic oils. Being a believer that anything can be proven if you go in with the "right" attitude, I usually discount...

VW HFM by Matthäus Artmann
Hi! I know, it doesn't belong to Audi, but there's no VW newsgroup. What I want to know is, if it is possible to change a Birburg (is this right?) with a Bosch HFM. 'Cause in my 1997 Passat Variant 1,9 TDI the HFM is obviously defective. I would get a Bosch HFM cheaper than a Birburg. thx

'00 A6 Alarm System odd behavior by Glenn Spence
Hi all, Sometimes after I park the car in the garage the alarm horn will emit a low sound like the alarm is going off even though the car is not locked. It's noticeable only because the garage is a relatively quiet place. The sound level is 1% of the normal alarm level. Loud enough to hear in...

97-99 A6 Was this recall serious ? by Stuart
Recall 1997-1999 A6 for "free check for possible damage of the rubber bellows of the front axle. The problem could lead to premature wear and, in isolated cases, to the failure of the bearing arm." I have discovered that this free inspection was never carried out on my 1998 A6. They can't check it...

A4 cabrio vs CLK cabrio (space in the back) by Jesper Lauridsen
We are 3 adults planning a week long car trip in an open car. The rental agencies are offering a choice of either the A4 or the CLK. Which of these two offer the most space for the guy in the back? We're all ~190cm tall, so this is important. Also, how much luggage space do they have with the top...

servicing by JJ
I bought a 03 A4 with 15,000 miles on it. It know has 18,000 miles. I know that I can get free servicing, but I don't qualify till around 21,000. What do I do? I always was of the mind to change oil at every 3,000 miles. Where do I go? The Rapid Oil "kids" destroyed my cover under my Passat.
