Well shes gone!!! by
Jamie
Just temporarlly though!!!
I towed the Vette down south last weekend getting some new fiberglass,
Fixing some cracks and a fresh coat (or 8) of paint. Engine and trans came
out this week, both getting a good work over. Mainly the tranny engine is
just being "freshened up" a little. A...

battery cut-off switch? by
Jack Carter
Any reason NOT to use one? And which is the better of the two - the knife
switch or the one with the screw-down knob? A friend tells me that
regardless of which one I get, I'll have to wait 5 or 10 minutes after
turning it from off to on for the computer to re-set things. That doesn't
make much...

FS: Brand New Goodyear RUNFLAT TIRES F1, SC. Only 500 miles. by
dave
'Oops, those are not SC tires, maybe GS-2 or less likely the A/S-C but
they are not the SC. I like the Brand New Goodyear RUNFLAT TIRES F1, SC.
Only 500 miles though, if they have 500 miles they are not brand new,
don't you think?'
REPLY: You are correct. I was told i had Supercar tires. But they...

Frame Stiffening for a '69 by
Cyber Joe
Hi All:
I've owned a '69 convertible since it came out of the showroom. Probably
will be burried in it.
One problem from day one is that the body/frame twists a lot. At about
60 mph, if there is any tire imbalance at all, a reasonace sets up with the
body/frame. I'm sure if I could stiffen the...

A Note for "Dad" by
Scubabix
Since I bought my 96 Coupe last April, I think it has been you posting about
the shaking/twisting of the C-4's. Honestly, I thought you were just
bitching about something minor. The first time I drove it with the roof
off, I 'd only had it a week or so and didn't know the feel of the car...

C5 hard start - gasoline smell by
Keith
Off to the service place today. Suddenly the 1997 C5 is hard to start,
have to crank maybe 4-6 seconds instead of the usual instant, and I'm
getting a raw gasoline smell. Any ideas what to look for? The car was
just serviced at the dealer, 100,000 mile tuneup, flush injectors, etc.
I'm guessing...

1971 vette amp question? by
Steve
Good day,
I took my 71 out for a spin and gas this morning, and noticed the amp.
meter was over charging. When I disconnected the neg. terminal on the
battery I noticed it was pretty warm. When I felt the alternator it was
too hot to touch. I put the thermometer on it and got a 225...

alt groups, rec groups by
Alan P. LaRue
I used to be a regular in a.a.corvettes, but I sold my car about 5 years
ago, and really am just not as "addicted" as I once was.
In any case, Verizon recently announced that they were only going to carry
only the "Big 8" newsgroups plus 0.verizon.*. All alt.* newsgroups are...

Do matching numbers matter? by
bill kolofa
I'd like to acquire an older 'Vette but the prices are high and going higher
each year. That is a good thing. But if I were to buy a Split window coupe
with a base engine and Powerglide, to keep the price under control, would a
Split window be worth more left stock or would a tasteful...

Restoration question by
Scubabix
Can someone please explain why someone would spend well over $20,000 to
restore a 40 or 50 year old Corvette and intentionally cause overspray to
mimic the poor quality control GM allowed? I can understand making it as
original as possible with parts, types of paint, fabrics etc., but to do
crappy...
