Radio interference by Kenneth Lyons
Recently, my radio began receiving interference, presumably from the engine, however the interference increases in frequency with the speed of the car, not the engine rpm's. I've changed the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor and all body ground wires, yet the interference persists. ...

2005 x3 Climate Control Issues by FB
I have a 2005 X3 with automatic climate control. I can't seem to get the heat to work correctly. The A/C works fine but now that it's getting cold, I need heat. (I bought it used and this is the first winter I've had it.) If I leave the auto control on, and turn off the a/c button, all I get is...

Basic oil question by mcquarrie
E36 M3oil The BMW spec is 15W40 non-synthetic. Browsing my local Auto parts store, whose computer confirms the grade for my E36, all the 15W40 oils on the shelf are labelled "for diesel engines". I shuddered at the prospect of putting the "wrong" oil in an M3, so I just went and bought a case from...

528i (E39) Steering Wheel Heater only stays on when warm outside by Ray Paganini
Group, The heated streering wheel works OK when the outside temp is about 45 f or above. When colder, the green light comes on for a second and then goes off. It is a relay going bad? Thanks,

1980 528i E12 by [email protected]
Howdy to All from the Lone Star State (Texas USA) I have recently purchased a nicely used 1980 528i and really enjoy it as it is my first BMW. I have been reading the post by so many of you and still find it refreshing to see so many folks openly helping one another. I do have one question, the...

Engine racing - 85 318i by Kenneth Lyons
I am having a problem which occurs only in cold weather (<50 degrees). The engine idle races up and down and refuses to stabilize when the car is stopped at a light. I've looked at all of the grounds and can find nothing loose. Any ideas?

Steering wheel squeak, 1989 325i, fluid question by [email protected]
I noticed that the steering wheel fluid was almost completely gone - way below the minimum on the dipstick. I added some STP fluid, not a lot, just to bring it up. The manual and the reservoir cap both say use ATF fluid only. I now have the ATF fluid. Meanwhile, I hear the steering wheel...

I got a more responsive engine by..... by Pashlipops
....cleaning my airmeter... Yep, didn't think it would make any difference, but I tried it and it is a lot livelier... All I did was take my airmeter out of my 100 000 mile E46 330ci, spray car cleaner (lots of it) trough the plastic grid at the hot wire, put it back together and took it for a...

Steering wheel and braking by [email protected]
Guys 1994 325 convertible. When braking I can feel a small 'jerk' through the wheel for the first second then all is fine. If I take my hands off the wheel and press the brakes I can see the wheel kick around to the right by about 1 inch then it kicks back to the original position. Braking after...

Alarm options/security advice for the 2002 330ci by Katoduck
I just bought a 2002 330ci coupe from a private owner and unfortunately had two of the window smashed in the very same night. Luckily the new tint stopped the windows from shattering. I live in a pretty nice area, but it's fairly dense urban neighborhood (still have some strange people walking...
