OT but only slightly: Craftsman Torque Measurement System - any good? by
Remco
I think my trusty torque wrench is getting a little too old and lost
some of its precision. Actually, I am more worried about its
repeatability, as it 'clicks' within plus and minus 15 percent
difference from one bolt to the other. If I knew it was just off by a
couple of units, you can keep that...

CD/MP3 player in radio slot - '71 Ghia by
Steve Mc
I've wanted to install a cd/mp3 player in my Ghia, but all that I've seen
won't fit the existing slot. I do not want to cut/enlarge the slot. Any
suggestions or ideas ?
Thanks,

[email protected][_1_]
Sam's 72 super was brought to me to find where water was coming in and
had to be completely redone due to poor quality repair work.

Order parts from ?? by
Randy
I'm starting to work on my old 67. It's been awhile since I've had
time to do anything with it. So, I need some parts.
Nothing major, just some basic stuff like carb rebuild kit,
chrome lug bolts & center caps for Empi 5 spokes, new exhaust, etc...
Went to a few local places trying to find the...

Bought a project type34, -65 by
Tuomas
Hello everyone!
There was awfully silent here (or my news server is missing a lot of news)
so something potentially interesting to fill the void. ;)
Actually I bought it a month ago but I bought it from Germany (mobile.de,
wasn't cheap either, 5500 euros) and it took a long time to get it...

Shifter Rod Bushing by
Randall Brink
Another problem...
After reading and assimilating all the advice and a hoard of postings on
shifter rod bushing replacement, I went to start the job and found that
there is a solid oval (non-removable) plate over the hole in the fromt apron
of my 1970 Beetle where one would remove the shifter...

72 Beetle / Fuel Vacuum Hoses / Fuel Gauge Voltage Stabilizer by
Eric[_19_]
Hello List!
Ive got a 1972 VW Beetle
A few questions that John Muirs Book has shed little light on for me.
When I open the gas cap should it be sucking air? Ive got a vacuum in
there. Its been doing this since I replaced all the gas vapor
recycling hoses. They were all original and cracked. I...

"Volkswagen vindicated by its new Rabbit" by
Mike
Volkswagen vindicated by its new Rabbit
When practically everybody in the car business abandoned hatchbacks as
if they were infected with some sort of bird flu, Volkswagen stubbornly
stuck to the design with its Golf.

Header AND Heaters by
Derek Palmer
I want exhaust headers and still want my heater.
Anyone got some good ideas so I don't have to go
back to my old exhaust system to get heat. I was
starting to think I might install a remote oil
cooler and force air through that? I just don't
want pressurized hot oil in the cabin!
If anyone has...

Tough Day by
Randy
As the city has overtaken our little place in the
country, we are going to have to move soon.
So, I've been down in the basement packing up "stuff".
I've been going thru tons of old VW magazines. VW Trends,
Hot VW's, VW's & Porsche, Hot VW's and Dune Buggys. Quite
a few of them from the 70's...

best place to find used 100hp engine by
[email protected]
I'm looking for a ready to run (all accessories) type 1 used engine for
use in testing an aircraft propeller. I would like to get 100hp at
around 3500 rpm (I'll have a gear reduction so my prop speed will be
lower).
I don't need a rebuilt engine as this will just be run on a test stand.
I'm not...

Hidden door hinges by
Jeff Kleier
I'd like to know the best way to "hide" the door hinges; the reason
being is that I want the sides
of my Beetle to be as smooth as silk (trim already removed and holes
filled, door handles removed).
I know that it would involve heavy-duty hinges, like on street rods and
such. I just want to know...

puma adjustable beam by
Damjan MozetiÄ
Hi,
It's me again. I have two upgrades on my mind for my 1972 bug. The first
one is the cilinder+piston upgrade in my previous post, and the second
is the purchase of an adjustable puma beam. How would the car behave
with standard shocks if lowered? I guess the guys at
hoffmann-speedster.com don't...
