mechanic by audidrive
My 2001 A4 1.8 engine need a tie rod end replacement on both left and right. I want to save some money and bring it to an outside mechanic that does foregin car like Honda or Toyota instead of the Audi dealership. Is this replacement pretty much straight forward between foreign and european car?...

slighly choppy engine idle by [email protected]
i'm getting a very smooth idle that just occassionally stutters pretty deeply on the tach. i just did a 40,000 tune up and everything is in good shape. is this just the result of an aging engine, or might it be indicitave of a greater problem, such as sticky valves, bad spark plug wires, etc? i...

Constant noise from Audi A4 by Grapeape
Thanks, guys, for the ideas. That will help narrow it down. I do need new brake pads. I just had the rear differential lubrication done (that wasn't the problem), so I suspect brake pads or bearings may be a culprit. As for the sound itself - I guess 'roaring' isn't the best description. The best...

Cost of longlife oil by william asty
I have recently found that Comma produce a 5 Ltr container of fully synthetic oil, 0-30w, with the top WV spec of 506 01. As I have an Audi A2 which takes just over 4 ltrs per oil and filter change, a 5 ltr container will suffice, rather than buying two 4 ltr containers. Now for the really...

Electric Windows Delay before working by [email protected]
I have an Audi 80 tdi (1995) and it has power (electric) front windows. The windows will not open (or close if left open) for a random time (anything up to 4 minutes) after starting the car. Then they work fine. The fault is present regardless of which switch I try to use (driver or passenger). If...

1987 5000CS Quattro trunk release by Mark Olson[_1_]
I cannot get the trunk of my 1987 5000CS Quattro open. Neither key will turn the lock cylinder. I have gotten it open in the past without much trouble, but it appears to just not want to turn now. I am relatively new to this car, so-- how does the central locking interact with the trunk release?...

2002 A4 suddenly unable to pick up anything than the strongest FM channels, no longer retunes as you travel & lose signal, and has lost all RDS traffic reception capability. AM is fine. Sound familiar to anyone with the standard "concert" setup? Service agent reckons it could be the signal...
