Keeping up with... by
Jeff Mayner
My Dad!
Some may remember that I took in our tired '02 330 convert about a month ago
and walked out with a spanking new 335i convert.
Well, my Dad liked the car so much that day before yesterday (Wednesday) he
called up and stated he wanted to take a run out to Calabasas (where I
bought my...

Car Wax recommendations by
George Johnston
Ok guys and girls, what is the best in your minds wrt to Wax.
I have a Midnight Black 328 e36 convertible. I used NuTone on it and was
not unimpressed with the result, but I noted a very subtle kind of
"spotting" on the large surfaces. The finish also feels a little soft. In
Nutone's defense,...

Oil Usage - members poll by
roy
Hi. Can I get an idea about how much oil people car's are using. My
e46 320 coupe got topped up about a month ago because the yellow oil
light was on. The light is back on now so I reckon I've a problem, but
before that it needed a top up about 6 months ago.
How often does everyone else need to top...

E46 Questions by
Dell Christopher
I'm not used to the "E" number vernacular but I have a 2001 330i, and I've
been experiencing the following problems:
Steering wheel wobbles when braking, usually when slowing down from high
speeds.
Random air blasts thru the vents. Air strength indicator light stays at the
same level, but it...

Old Z3??? by
Puddin' Man
Greetings,
I am in the market for a very solid used "small car". Have noticed that a
'96-'98 Z3 can be had for reasonable money ($5-8k in midwest US per Kelly
BB).
Have never owned a "sports car". Have owned several sports
motorcycles.
I'm retired, and put only 2-3k miles on a car annually. A...

E39 Police Cars in London by
[email protected]
I recently visited the UK and noticed a number of E39 police cars in
Westminster. What's the idea with using these? Are they reserved for
pursuit, supervisors, etc.? What model are they? The badges were
deleted. Having travled elsewhere in Europe I am familiar with the
concept of various grades...

New (well, at least official) info on the new M3 on www.bmwusa.com. Fairly
detailed brochure available in PDF format. Just wish there were more

VW 'luxury' divisions a waste of money? by
Dori A Schmetterling
Googling away on Burnt Fishtrousers (Bernd Pieschetsrieder, relatively new
head of VW, ex-BMW), I came across an item in which it is thought that BP
feels that his predecessor, Ferdinand Piech, spent too much money and effort
on Phaeton, Bugatti und Bentley {Phaeton alone cost 1 billion (!)...

electronic throttle by
David Skelton[_3_]
> some??? damned few dude - that's why we have abs.
I thought the main reason for ABS is to maintain steering control when the
brakes were pressed too hard, so hazards could be avoided. But, ABS does not
work so well in the very wet or icy conditions.
I remember that Audis of the early...

need advice on snow tires by
Mike Klein
My wife just got an '02 525 wagon. I assume she'll need snow tires
for the ~5 times that we get enough snow to make side streets slippery.
My
question is, does she need 4 snow tires, or would 2 on the rear wheels
be
sufficient?
Also, any recommendation for a brand of tires for occaisonal...

Hi All,
I have a '96 328i. Can anyone tell me what size hex wrench is needed to
remove the front brake caliper guide bolts? Also, is it the same size
wrench for the rear caliper?
TIA to all!

E90 4 Series? by
Kevin Oberle
Earlier on I had heard that the E90 coupe would be designated as the 4
Series; I understood that BMW was moving to a policy of all four door cars
being odd numbered while two door cars would be even numbered.
Lately I've heard no mention of a 4 Series, and everyone seems to be
referring to the...

Speedo Accuracy - '94 E36 by
J Strickland
I set the Cruise to 80 and timed two miles by the mile markers; it took 92
seconds to travel the distance. This works out to 78.26 mph, so the speedo
is fast by 1.74 mph at 80. The SPEED reported by the OBC was 78.2, so it
seems that all is well in my universe.
The speedo is accurate to within 2...

Fuel Mileage Sucks on '94 325 Convertable by
J Strickland
My old 325i (4-door) gave a consistant 25 combined mpg for the trips that I
make. I managed to slam the car into the side of somebody making an illegal
left turn, and replaced it with a convertable of the same year, 1994. The
convertable only gives about 22.5 mpg for the same trips that the other...

En gine size by
G.Gordon
Folks,
would anyone have an opinion as to whether buying a 3 series car
with 30,000 miles on the clock, would be a worse deal than buying a 5 series
with the same mileage? Both being otherwise equal..I'm speaking of engine
longevity.ie;are the engines of these models the same and only differ in
cubic...
